Yeah, it seems like this mutation causes some concern for the British health authorities. They're actually going to develop a Tier 4 in the South(east) and London during the holiday season. It seems like this might be the reason why the cases have been rising in the South. This new strain can spread more quickly. BoJo claimed it spreads 70% more efficient than the previous versions. I'm actually fearing this strain might be the dominant strain in Europe right now.

So the government relented on their 5 day relaxation and decided to just go with Christmas Day. I can see a lot of people not sticking to that. Some people can't see family that day, they have to work. This will go down like a lead balloon.

London numbers seem to be spiralling, so they have had to make a new tier 4 for them, the south east, and all of Wales, meaning that people are told not to commute, and all non-essential shops and businesses must close.

I haven't been to the continent since I went to Rome with my girlfriend in February. She went back to France shortly afterwards, and I didn't get any rona until October, so you can't even blame me. She might have killed a few people off but they are only the French.

Most older people (or people with significant health issues) actually develop a pneumonia and need oxygen as they have breathing difficiulties. Even if you're indifferent to mortality, they still need to get oxygen, treatment and will cause hospitals to run out of capacity at some point. Probably no country in the world has the health care capacity to ventilate 1000's of people throughout the year AND perform regular surgeries and treatments (also bare in mind that the average COVID patient will need to be ventilated for several weeks rather than days)

I don't see how fear is being spread, not when ICU capacity is under pressure in European states and some states in NA.
