USA has
+14,550 new cases so far and 400 deaths. Crazy shit.
Shit here is just barely starting to hit the fan. If people in other nations lack awareness of the real threat this poses, in the US you have to additionally consider the irrationally inflated sense of self-worth and idea that rules don't apply to americans (aka freedom).
And, of course, there is the unfathomably incompetent fuckwit in charge of it all ...
Factor all those in and nothing good is in store for this country in the coming months.
ive read that we probably have anywhere from 400,000 to 800,000 cases right now.
I'd say that could well be a conservative estimate - delayed response to even admit the threat was real, delayed actions (of any kind), non-existent readiness of both the supply chain and health-care system to deal with a pandemic of this proportion ...
... and of course the Fuckwit In Charge, surrounded by his yes-men republican stooges, who are trampling over one another to blow him, as opposed to keep his idiocy in check

Rand Paul, the only senator to vote against emergency coronavirus funding has now tested positive for coronavirus. 2:
If this dude litterally voted against funds that will save citizens lives, every single voter should remember this and he should have zero votes next election.

That is if people are sane enough to keep him accountable.

Unfortunately he’s from Kentucky and the people who elected him will do so again in a heartbeat, and many likely support his stance here, because no matter the situation big government/deep state = bad

One other factor that may cause a high percentage of deaths in the US in the coming months.
Many people in the US have either inadequate care or no health coverage at all. This means the US population has a high %-age of people with uncured/untreated underlying conditions. This is the high-risk group for coronavirus and we could well end up with not just a sudden influx of covid patients but also many of these patients being severely/gravely ill.
While the US has great medical expertise, in absolute sense, I don't believe the system is prepared, from an organizational standpoint, to deal with something like that, and could well be overwhelmed.

Not only he voted against it, but he delayed it intentionally. Unfortunately he’ll be OK.
Jesus. What could his argument possibly have been? What's the libertarian angle here? Virus testing must infringe constitutional rights in some way.

Carona virus relief bill being voted on in the US Senate as we speak. Hearing a surprising amount of 'no'.

These "official" numbers are quite frankly irrelevant because testing in the US is inadequate any way.
It gives an idea. You take a number and double it/quadruple it.

We got a friend who owns several nail salons. They’re all still open and according to him the place has been packed as if it was Christmas time and most of the people mentioned they’re “working at their home offices”. The motherfuckers that have no excuse but to stay home are actually the ones going out and agglomerating.

Goddamn Florida, you deserve all the stupid jokes about you.

like everywhere dude...
I don't know about everywhere (South Korea, Germany could well be exceptions) but I am sure the US isn't the only place where testing procedures and/or availability of tests is inadequate. That's not what I am implying.
The difference between the US and most other countries out there, however, is that the US doesn't have the built-in excuse of lacking funds (not being rich enough) to be adequately prepared for a pandemic.
For many, if not most, other countries, how prepared they are, how they respond to a pandemic is a matter that's closely related to availability of funds or lack thererof. For the U.S. any inadequacy in their response/readiness is a matter of lacking the right policies in place or not taking the correct course of action in a timely manner, for one reason or another.

You guys are paying too much attn to individual numbers and taking them at face value.

Infection rate also reflects increase in number of testing kits and tests when applicable. There will be big jumps in US #s, not just bc of ineptitude of govt, healthcare and infectious nature of virus.

Mortality rate figure also has to do with number of tests done. Total mortality divided by # of tests, not actual infected #, times 100. Edit: And it depends on # of icu's relative to # of icu's needed.

Trend from Italy correlates with incubation period and start of lockdown.

Something like 45% of Americans over 45 are obese. There should be considerably higher mortality rate in 40-60 age group in the US compared to Europe.

Unsurprisingly, Asians from the Orient have been the best at tackling this. Densely populated and less organized places like South Asia might get completely fucked unless heat slows this virus down a little.

Live free or die (and kill a bunch of other people in the process).

You need to take this seriously. Thousands of death and 300k unctrollable infections should tell you its serious enough to take precautions.
I mean I'm cautious and all...wash my hands, keep my distance, etc. But I haven't gotten to the fear point yet where I'm panicking.
