The pair of them have had this hard-to-shift cough and cold symptoms for weeks now. Before all this I said to them it was because their heating was on too high - it was like a sauna, but now I think it's a case of them being locked up together. You need to take this seriously. Thousands of death and 300k unctrollable infections should tell you its serious enough to take precautions.

similar life expectancy, italy is around 83, germany a bit lower. i meant the average age of the ill people in these countries. italians are very social, and probably that kills so many old people there. germans probably manage to keep the distance better. but that's just my uneducated guess.

Valerio. iirc said how Germans classify corona death only if a person dies without having other illness (that's how it says on wiki page). But Daidevil said that's false. So dunno what's the thing.

Russia and China are regimes and the way you keep a regime going is by keeping people docile, under control. The way you keep people under control is by not giving them a reason to organize in big numbers and revolt. The way you that is by feeding them the illusion everything is fine and dandy. The way you create such an illusion during a crisis, of any kind, is by lying to them.

Onto Germany - they have one of the absolute best health-care systems in the world with top-notch expertese, not just organisationally, so having a lot of infected but few deaths makes sense. Also, a great health-care system means very few people would have existing underlying conditions that have gone untreated/uncured, and it is exactly people with such conditions that represent the risk group for coronavirus.
