For all this talk of the French players not being French, I was surprised to learn that almost all of them were actually born in France. I feel bad that they get shit like this.
It's especially funny as an outsider. I see Brits of Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi descent with perfect English accents. To me, if a motherfucker speaks with an English accent, then he's English. My foreign eyes see them all as the same.

But then you go on Instagram and see pasty little fuckers telling these fellas to back to [insert Asian country]. Tiny dick energy.

I'm not sure what you expected, because the decolonisation of Africa dates back more than half a century.

You could make the argument they're not really French, but Parisian though.

On the flip side you get alot of Asians who can barely speak or understand a word of English, yet they run businesses sometimes illegally in England (I know this through my line of insurance work) and what's worse is those who come to England, don't even embrace its way of life or its laws but spends the weekends protesting for sharia law and trying to get the government to conform it their ways.

I'm sure these people exist and they're despised by other Asians as well and would gladly see them being deported.

Luckily South Americans are not hated in England right? :shifty:

To me, being born and raised your whole life in a particular country should make you unquestionably part of that nation. I know nothing about the intricacies of France, mostly because I don't care about France.

It depends on the degree of physical look and parent culture differences when compared to the majority in that nation. You could be born and raised in china, that will never make you Chinese. A govt issued document does not assign you identity, the "other" does. And the other will do so based on how much you can pass off as that identity.

How can you guys not mention West Germany of the 1970's as one of the greatest national teams of all time? They won the 1972 Euros, 1974 World Cup and reached the 1976 Euros final, only to lose on penalties.

But I guess with Germany, you sometimes tend to forget how good they were because they been such a powerhouse throughout the years. And their style of play might not always have been the most memorable, but they had so many great players.

From the 70's and forward you can find them being in finals in and semis in nearly every tournament, it's insane stability. Only recently the Germans have lost some of that grit.

But take a look at their track record and pedigree, no European nation comes close to this.

Not surprising, it's a nation that taken pride in its bigotry for a long long time:

Is it true that Milei fired Argentina's sport minister because said minister suggested Enzo and the argie players who sang the racist song should apologise? If so :howler:

That was a nothing sitaution. Social media misinformation after the fact to shill for engagement.

He wanted to give his shirt to someone in the stands wearing a River Plate shirt, his former club.
