I don't consider it a dive because there was contact.

I don't doubt that Marchisio could have stayed on his feet if he wanted to, though, so it could be considered a dive in that sense.

It's a grey area as to whether it's a dive when the attacker creates the contact, as far as I'm concerned.

However, I'm far from convinced Marchisio did that.

Verdict: Marchisio went down light. That said, it was a clear scoring opportunity and Mecks wasn't even close to making contact with the ball. Deserved penalty.
