All depends on your definition of a dive.
which also depends on your 'definition' of definition

Ok I'll bite.

Nothing to do with eyesight, when you have a huge screen with a zoomed in area showing you the replay from 5 feet away. Welcome to the 21st century.
welcome to regardless how zoomed in you 3d hd tv is showing the action, theres no helping a skewed and objectivity paralysed eyesight.

I don't consider it a dive because there was contact.

I don't doubt that Marchisio could have stayed on his feet if he wanted to, though, so it could be considered a dive in that sense.

Clear contact, which is good enough for me.
but you also forgot to mention that he dragged that foot to get the contact, thats still not a dive?

It's a grey area as to whether it's a dive when the attacker creates the contact, as far as I'm concerned.

However, I'm far from convinced Marchisio did that.

That video shows exactly what I mean. His link up play is great...his quick passing and moving into space is exactly why he got that goal.

2m37s (direct video insertion has not helped here)

He's on the way down from jumping to planting his left foot, at speed I might add, he'd have to be a Jedi to react that quickly. He'd also have to become immune to gravity or remove his leg to avoid the contact.

Whether he goes down from the contact directly or indirectly is the only debatable point.

I don't get why we're debating that when the electric super sex assist from Vucinic was the only thing worth mentioning in that play.

Doesn't really matter if the contact was minimal or not. The contact was there and it hindered Marchisio from a chance to put the ball in the net.

Not the same thing, considering you can see clear contact. Show me clear contact for Pato vs Chievo, Ibra vs Bologna, Boateng vs Siena, Maxi Pad vs Viola, for example.

Verdict: Marchisio went down light. That said, it was a clear scoring opportunity and Mecks wasn't even close to making contact with the ball. Deserved penalty.
