After thinking last night's drama over, I came to a few thoughts.
Though very unpleasant, such a hard loss might be a good thing after all.
Seeing as it might actually finally wake some people up, Capello and the management included. The former might be actually forced to make some more drastic changes in our style of play, formation and mentality. Starting next week against Arsenal at home. Hopefully as soon as the Treviso match, but the loss of certain key(to Capello's tactics)players is a heavy factor on changing tactics as well against Arsenal. The latter ( the management), will have to make changes in the direction of the tranfers mainly; How to build a team suitable for more than only one platform( Serie A).
This scenario is a complete deja vu of the liverpool scenario last season. To complete this cycle, we will probably thrash Treviso and go out against Arsenal with a weak draw. Hopefully though the change of tactics and because the team will want prevent the deja vu, will change the course of history this year around. I know it will take a miracle, but i'm willing to stay positive, for one last week. I'll have my aim at Capello and the management's head, if we go out ungloriously next week. That being said, most damage has been done already.
In any case the next week will surely be interesting to say the least.
More specifically about the formation next week.
We need to adress the big issues on our team;
-Such as the lack of cohesion between the lines. The defence can't get the ball to the midfield and the midfield can't reach the strikers.
-It's as if we play with 9 players at the start of the match, the strikers are uninvolved in the build up.
-We need some winning attitutde, fight for the ball!
-Quicker play, pass the ball around. If you want to play counter-attack, you need get to ball to front quicker and with more precision.
-Lack of Techincal ability, all the first touches were sloppy against Arsenal. A big winning factor for Arsenal.
The drastic changes due to Vieira, Camoranesi's, Zebina's and maybe Del Piero's absense will come down to a a 5-3-2 sort of formation.
That's what I expect anyway. Just like the liverpool scenario is repeating itself, a scenario of earlier this season is repeating itself in a way as well. We went through the same transition vs bayern earlier in the season, when we suffered back to back defeats against both Bayern and milan. Back then we changed formation to a 5-3-2 formation for the second game against Bayern. Thus we will probably see something like this against Arsenal:
_________________Buffon
_________Kovac Thuram Cannavaro
Zambrotta______________________Chiellini
__________Emerson Giannichedda?
_________________Nedved
____________Trezeguet Zlatan (Mutu? Del Piero? PLEASE!)
If we fail, we can already start building for the next season. As far as i'm concerned the season will be as good as over then; no more europe and the scudetto as good as sealed. We will finally need to inject some youth (this was needed 2 years ago!) and we need some Conte's! Or even Maresca's, Tacchinardi's. Players with grit, determination, the will to win. Players from average teams, who want to win anything mixed with the experienced winners. Marchionni is therefore a good start.
I know a lot of this is very incoherent, but I felt the need to share some of my thoughts. Any comments?
