bottom line, his 'massive skills' are overrated, his flicks and tricks very rarely come off,and when they do, so what, they don't add anything to the team, his passing skills are limited, his shooting is worse and he has a temperament from hell.
At the risk of sounding a bit silly: word.

One thing I would add is that he creates spaces for the others, he draws defenders. Better than any other forward we have. But his passing is pretty modest most of the time. And what he provides by being strong and controlling the ball well, he mostly wastes losing the ball right after that. Talented but so frustrating to watch.

are u still a prospect at 24?

I don't think people are rejoicing that he was sent off , it came too late in the game to make a difference but he got what he deserved, no doubt.

imo he's not the superman he's made out to be, more like a liability.

unfortanately looks like cap will persist with this supreme 'striker' all season. yee ha
Too bad it wasn't the case when I was searching a few pages back

My match comments in rather different from some of u.

In front of a pathetic audience of 16000 @ Delle Alpi, we managed to play convincely for the full 90 minutes, getting our revenge and basically grabbing 3 important points. Everybody did what they have to do within their boundaries, with some of them performing while some did not, and in the end it turn out to be a sweet victory for Juventus. Now let's go on with the players.

Abbiati - Not tested much but he actually did a decent job. Apart from the Deisler superb free kick from 40 yards which he incorrectly misjudged, he saved us at times. For Deisler's strike, none of our defenders actually been able to touch it. In the 1st half, he has to leap to tap a ball out that somehow rebounded off Cannavaro's head.

Kovac - Played against his former teammates and effectively shutting down Pizarro, who's been a main threat. But he seemed to foul too much and deservedly pick up a yellow card. Been solid defensively despite making some bad passes around the field, but too bad Capello has to take him off to make way for Camo. At least he's more realiable than Blasi.

Cannavaro - Superb defending and heading skills. No wonder Makaay is invisible and Pizarro is frustrated the whole night long.

Thuram - Solid defending. Good old Thuram

Chiellini - I was rather glad that he can play for 90 minutes. This young lad is full of grit and determination, running up and down and crossing to our players to score. However when he shoots the ball seems to go everywhere except into the net.

Emerson - Solid as rock. No wonder Bayern players r frustrated.

Vieira - Defensively ok, however his passing ability seems off. Some of his passes manage to end up with a Bayern player. But despite that his magnificant pass to Trezeguet was class with the latter finishing with a superb goal.

Zambrotta - Impressive offensively and defensively. Even though he plays on the right, his performance gives me a thumbs-up. Provided a deep cross in the 1st half which Trezeguet failed to convert.

DP - Perhaps he has been tried in his new position that he seemed so lost. His freekicks were somehow headed out by a defender. I'm patient to see DP performs well.

Zlatan - In the 1st half he was not impressive. It was in the 2nd half that he played brilliantly. Managed some tricks to fool the whole Bayern defence and some beautiful flicks too. Even managed to get past players such as Sagnol and Deisler. No wonder that whole Bayern defence looks so choatic. Too bad his temper costed him to be sent off.

Trez - He played positively running around and helping out. Scored 2 wonder goals which helped the team a lot. Definitely 1 of the most underrated strikers in the world.

Nedved - Perhaps that it is the bench time he received that he somehow learnt to play right at last. Made some passes and crosses which Bayern have to struggle to clear.

Camo - Not a good game for him. Fouled Ze Roberto 3 times. He seemed pretty awkward in game and Ze Roberto managed to overtake him. Was even booked. Now I understand y Capello took him out and introduce Mutu instead.

Mutu - Given only 14 minutes to play. Was performing better than Camo and gave Ze Roberto some trouble. Even tried to score.

Capello introduced a 4-3-1-2 system which is very intresting to watch. I would love to see Mutu behind the strikers instead of Nedved/DP and see how it will turn out.

I agree wholeheartedly with Erkka's comments. We had more ball possession than Bayern in both halves and defeat Bayern convincely with passes and 2 wonder strikes. Bayern is not an easy team to defeat and to win this game is already so difficult. I honestly don't understand what u ppl expect. We didn't play lacksturely. We managed to press Bayern and I see our players in the Bayern half most of the time in the 2nd half. Maybe we should press them for 90 minutes? I don't think it is possible TBH.

Zlatan was sent off, did he deserved it? Of course
Was that unsporting conduct? Yes
Is he frustrated? From the way he kicked Isamel and Ballack, of course
Should we be happy when he is sent off? NO WAY

Zlatan is a Juve player, and no Juve fan should actually rejoicing about his sending off. Remember he contributes to our team despite his lack of form this season. Look at last season alone and see how many goals he scored for us or his tricks to help us. I know that he is hot-tempered and irrational, but I really hope that he should mature and control his temper more. Zlatan is an interesting prospect, and I don't wish to see his tempers get his way.

Last of all Forza Juve
Congrats for the win against Bayern
Great Post.

Actually I would say: he doesn't know when to release the ball.

didn't sound silly at all :D

he does draw defenders but for a big guy he's not as strong as you'd think, loses an awful lot of physical battles too, milan last weekend? and his 1st touch has deserted him too this season.

huge room for improvement in his game, no doubt about that but he probably thinks he's the finished article.

Zlatan is neither here nor there... hes not the greatest but hes not bad either. The important thing bout Zlatan is that his presence is felt most of the time and that helps us a lot. However I think Zlatan needs to improve a lot, he could've done so much better on more than one occassion. In his own words, I hope Capello can "sort him out"

And the more I look, the more Chiellini and Kovac look alike.

Sadly this is true. But I still hope he improves.

Martin has been the voice of reason around here, kudos to him for that. I can't believe that people are actually complaining about a bad game here, whining about "lack of control". Newsflash for you, NO TEAM in the world could control team like Bayern. Juve played perfectly balanced, didn't let Bayern have any chances (even though Émerson tried to :D) and snapped a deserved victory with the brace of one of the most underrated players in these forums. When Buffon, Zebina, Camoranesi etc. get back on track, this team is unstopable, mark my words. Now let's just wish for the best and hope for injury-free times for a change.
Ok, I just wanted juve to do the same way bayern played against us in munich????
did not they controll us? this would mean that you think that bayern are stronger than juve

I gotta say the more matches I watch, the more I get the feeling some of the people here are rather disconnected from reality. First of all it's the thing with treating Del Piero like he's so different from the whole team, discussing his performance everytime. Often he gets stick for being average, whereas many others get away with being average consistently (Nedved anyone?). To me he's just a team player, it's a bit unsettling to have all this focus on him.

Secondly, people's expectations are out of whack. Like tonight we played probably one of the best teams in Europe and we were lucky to win. Reading the forum I get the impression that people expect us to beat them convincingly, like that's the standard we're aiming for. But when I watch big matches like this, it's almost always even and decided by a small margin. People who think tonight's Bayern will be beaten by several goals I find a bit delusional. We played average tonight and we beat a strong team. Conversely, sometimes we beat small clubs playing like shit and the celebration is resounding.

The thing about Ibrahimovic is that most of the time he's fairly average (like tonight). He's very rarely absolute trash (like vs Milan) and he's very rarely very good. Although the spotlight is on him, he is to me quite consistent, far less magical than people have him being. For his style, he has made quite a few enemies around here and not everyone will wish him well, which is sorta understandable, it's the case with controversial players.
Great post Martin. Agree with most of ur points, u can add ur DP comment on Abbiati as well. I think he did an ok job for us even though a lot of the fellow members will disagree with me.

Aside from the Munich fiasco, I'd say he's been decent.

Call me whatever you want, BUT If we'll play the same way we played against Bayern in the 2nd round....you can make sure we're out.
agreed, we're not going to win it with displays like that but if Trez pops up and gets 2 goals out of nothing then we've got a chance :D

Abbiati? the man seems frightened of his own hands. I'm a nervous wreck any time the ball goes near him.

Ok his mistakes haven't been fatal but let's say gigi can't come back soon enough for me.

hehe:D...

Seriously, Imagine If we were to draw Barca in the 2nd round or Chelsea or even Lyon...They'll hammer us If we'll play the same way we played yesterday not that we were ugly, not at all, but we should give more, attack more, even If it's Bayern we're playing against.

Barcelona were phenomenal last night, I want that kid messi at juve!

I don't think we've got the players to put a champions League rival under any sort of sustained preassure, to be honest I wish we'd have got rid of emerson in the summer and brought some flair into the team, we lack invention and it'll be our downfall in the competition.

exactly, we are not able to make presure. I mean the goal of trez was our only chance to score after the 1-0.
The game was at home, a great home team must allways be able to make presure and create a lot of chances
