Well, you might argue that we are strengthened in defense with the 3-5-2 against certain teams, but at the same time we lack the creativity of the 4-3-3. It would be great to have both as alternatives. If we get a right winger able to work hard defensively (like Pepe, but better), then I don't see why 4-3-3 wouldn't work. Sure, we would want to use 3-5-2 against certain opponents, but a 4-3-3 with Pirlo or 4-2-3-1 with a trequartista is what we should be aiming for in the long run.
