Well, the formula is there:
-The same defense that got owned in that FINAL basically. (chiello, bon..specially chiello)
-Now add Messi neymar and suarez tot he equation, which is basically an upgrade from that euro spanish team.
I hope that we will win with grinta and good tactical awareness.
BUT also , that Italy team was decimated as fuk...and also i think this juve team is better.
Its difficult to predict
1) Barza was coming back from a small injury.
2) Chiello was injured earlier in the tournament, and though played against Germany, he fell to pieces in the final and had to be subbed off.
3) Prandelli then subbed on Thiago Motta who then himself got injured and Italy went down to 10 men for much of the 2nd half.
4) Further on Prandelli; he was amazing throughout most the tournament, and won games no one thought he would. After that 'chat' with Conte, going into the group game vs Spain with Juve's 3-5-2 (playing DDR in Barza's position) was genuis! Spain until then look unassailable as an international squad and that Juve derived 3-5-2 utterly choked their supply and rendered their tika-taka practically useless (I recall Giak was used as a LWB in that game too). Prandelli lost his nerve, right at the death and played a 4 back against Spain in the final that didn't work and back-fired horribly, he readily abandoned the very tactics he proved would work against the Spanish style of play (also, Chiello shouldn't have started, and T.Motta was the wrong sub for the wrong situation).
5) Italy's midfield doesn't have a Pogba or Vidal (though one could say DDR is a pretty apt replacement), but Vidal, Pogba, Pirlo and Marchisio (with Asamoah, Pereyra and Sturaro in reserve) makes for a very potent midfield that exceeds even Italy's!

Bonucci has improved leaps and bounds since 2012. IIRC, Chiellini was playing LB to start that game, a position he's horrible in, and was injured previously in the tournament (thigh) and shouldn't have started the final. Sub'd off at 20 minutes.
Our defense is entirely different today. Evra is miles better than Chiellini (and after the sub Balzaretti) at LB. Lichtsteiner is miles better than Abate at RB. Bonucci is much better than 2012 Bonucci. Only 2012 Barza > Chiellini today.
As for the mids. Prandelli played a midfield diamond of Pirlo with Marchisio and De Rossi flanking him and Montolivo in front...
I can't really think of an actual parallel to this game. Barca is unlike any team we have faced in the last couple years, and in all honesty, we're unlike any team they have faced in the last couple years. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
1) Your analysis is pretty spot on mate, I agree with pretty much all you've said..
2)

F*cking Prandelli's mancrush on Riccardo Olive Mount...
3) Again yo're right mate... We've not played a team even close to Barca's style, likewise they've not faced up against anything like Juve. Putting aside who we obviously want to see win, for football's sake it will be an intriguing chess style, tug-of-war struggle between two pretty formidable squads!
We're going to have to dig deep and fight like this!
