So, all of the time then

Benatia should be sold next Summer.

But we'd bank the 5M we'd make off of him and choose not to reinvest it along with the rest of the money we see fit not to invest in the squad.

It would have been closer with our starters but last season aside, Barca are still the better team and absolutely dominated us. I expect this is the season we drop back to last 8 hopefuls, more in line with our spending. The real big boys will be back and I imagine this United team will outperform us within the next 2 seasons in the CL. A prediction I made back when United were dogshit. It's all about investing in the squad. And we don't.
well i was assuming after tonight allegri will hand it to rugani and howedes. sorry should have been clearer :D

I’m saying that the planning was off by not bringing a defender like light when we are already thin there. All the while expecting sturaro to play there when he obviously can’t. Then top the fact that when they started pressing the way they did he didn’t adjust the tactics to handle that. Then add to the fact that he didn’t change anyone up front till to late with the Berna and Caligara subs

I'm not surprised we were poor. We always look half fit against teams from leagues that start earlier in September and Manduz and Cuads were huge losses for tonights game.

Still, I see no reason to panic though we aren't anywhere near as shit as the doomsayers are proclaiming and I still believe, barring injury crisis, we have every chance of smashing them in Turin. We were definitely very unlucky to have this fixture as our first of the group stage.
We take time to get into shape, teams like Barca who are reliant less on physicality do not. At least not as much.

Very frustrating game nonetheless

Everyone fell asleep and starting thinking of how well we had done in the first half and we copped the first. It was done from there. Benatia with some fantastic ball watching.

Half the starters are out but we looked comfortable for 44 minutes then we go and fuck it up royally. Individual mistakes punished us.
Rugani should always start.

The shit thing is that we can only really get second place now. Barca won't drop points against either of the other teams where as we probably will.
Our 2nd half performance reminds me of last year's final. Once again, we got cold feet, and looked dazed and confused. Benatia was atrocious, but I'm sure some will still find reason to defend his incompetence. Barza is simply too old, and too slow. De Sciglio was actually ok until he almost gave away a goal at the end of the first half. Alex Sandro needs to improve his positioning.

Cardiff all over again, but this yer we'll be knocked out in the second round as this team is nowhere near the level of the European forces. Infact we were lucky to make the final last year

Nah I know, you're right. Benatia and to a lesser extent Barzagli should be kept well away from big games in Europe. Barz finally got a visit from the age monster. Benatia... well he's just consistently shit. Usually performs for 20 minutes then gets caught out time and time again.

How can everything can change in 45 minutes I think we would at least get a draw. Then a bluff performance.
We need to win the remaining games, for self respect.

Typical Allegri's Juve at the start of season. Injury ridden and in shit condition. Only difference this year Dybala was in great form for a coupla matches.

We tend to take time to get into the CL groove of things. Its harsh to play your first game against Barcelona away, especially with a depleted defence in comparison to last year. Still expect us to reach far this season, finishing second might not be as bad, tend to believe we are better in ties when we play the first leg home.
Completely agree. Barca tend to always do well in the group stages, and we take time to find the right line up and fitness. I believe it will be a different game in Turin, and we just need to make it out of the groups. Don't forget we made a finals after barely ending 2nd place. Chiellini and Mandzukic were missed dearly today.

Hopefully this acts as incentive to bench Benatia til' the end of his contract, since he was partially at fault in all goals. Honestly if our defensive line was Höwedes-Rugani/Barza-Chiellini-Alex Sandro I would expect the result to be closer to a clean sheet, but the result was also down to poor decision making from our attackers and bad finishing since we had a nice amount of shots on goal and promising situations.

Incidents decide matches. This match was similar to last season's one when we were the ones who won 3:0. The half time goal and the second goal after that terrible defensive mistake killed us. After that we were a humiliation, but the match could have ended differently if....
...Just like the one in Turin if Buffon didn't save Iniesta's shot.

Still, despite everything, our terrible attacking performance must be highlighted. There were individual mistakes (De Sciglio's pass to Dembele; Bentancur on Messi's opener; Benatia for the second goal) but the attack failed big time through out the match and it had nothing to do with the result. We were terrible up front at 0:0 and at 3:0.
