But that doesn't prove anything. What you need to do, young poet, is prove how Ferrara is ruining Melo, or making him not complete simple passes. The question here is not how Ferrara is ruining us as collective unit; that much is obvious. But what folks need to prove is how some players can blame Ferrara for not stepping up to the plate on an individual level.
And I don't mean folks like Canna who have shown for years to be past it and not worth our time. But the lack of desire from most players is appalling, and it doesn't seem like all the coach's fault.
You concede and accept that Ciro is ruining us as a collective unit. Not ALL players react the same to such ruinous management. The reaction is dependent on several factors...Mainly heart, spirit, technique, professionalism, and devotion to the club. Melo obviously has a fragile, very sensitive spirit and heart. Prone to depression as much as prone to happiness. Perhaps moreso the former...Chiellini for example, one of only two players whom this dire cloud of shocking form has not afflicted, is easily the player in our ranks with the strongest HEART. He is unaffected...Buffon also, has something very saintly about him, majestic. He KNOWS he is a King. The others...need results and guidance. All of them.
Some players need more guidance than others. Some lose hope quicker and more easily than others. Its wrong to assume they are all affected the same way by having a coach who will never be sacked no matter how atrociously he performs...
As a fishmonger, I was amazing. Wonderful with the customers, talented with my knives...and when I had a new manager who was a bald queen evil Kunt, my attendance and appearance suffered, but my WORK OUTPUT did not. Because the customers, hundreds of them, were my friends. So...I kept going, for the customers and myself, NOT for the nasty manager. Others...the majority under his command, lost morale, gradually left or were pushed out, and depression set in across his charges. Its natural. Many people NEED to respect and believe in THE MAN THEY WORK FOR. I don't...neither does Chiellini, nor Buffon. Like them, i still wanted to Give and to Enjoy my connection with the position and customers.
Melo appears to be the most sensitive of all our players. Sensitive to the manager, sensitive to results, sensitive to the aura surrounding the club. Its not what I want from him. Especially given the demand for spirit and fierce determination for ANY player who plays defensively in midfield...but its simply who he is. A poor signing. It IS important how different he was for Prandelli, and how different he has continued to be, for Brazil. And I don't mean merely tactically, I mean who Dunga and Prandelli are as Men, as Father figures, as husbands and fathers.
I never thought Ciro was the greatest leader on the field, in fact, I remember him going about his business in a quiet, controlled, determined manner. They are useful traits for a centreback...but merely complementary traits for a manager. Complementary to other more essential traits like Infectious spirit and Massive Heart.
