DP saved our asses today, in a game where we were outclassed in every facet of the game

out passed, out possessed, out-hustled, etc......we didnt deserve to win this game, with the poor showing that we had

Zenit attacked us more in 5 minutes than Udinese did the entire 90 minutes on sunday

The only bright spots from todays game was DP's goal, and our defense holding down the fort, and helping Gigi to a shutout

The combo of Poulsen and Momo were totally outclassed today....Poulsen showed the very many reasons why I didnt want him in the first place

Todays game showed once again why exactly we needed a PLAYMAKER in the center of the park who can pull the strings of our attack, and feed the forwards. Camo is the only player on this team capable of this responsibility, and once he went out injured we became void of ideas and lacked any creativity....ask Trez how many balls he received today

The longball approach doesnt work, and we saw damn near 90 minutes of it to understand why

Ranieri made a huge mistake in starting Molinaro....I said after last game that DC showed enough against Udinese to convince me that he is the better choice at LB, but our bumbling idiot coach couldnt see that. Instead, we wasted a substitution to get Molinaro out of there before he lost us the fucking game, when we could have used that sub to get Marchisio out there to replace a useless Poulsen. Never start Molinaro again

Do I need to even bring up Brazzo ??

I hope this management team realizes that the key to winning isnt 2 DM's in the middle of the park, and we cant put it all on Camo to do either. We need a creative player in the middle, and if we dont get one in January, then we can certainly kiss the CL goodbye....thats if we even make it out of the first round

All Hail The King - Alex to the rescue again. He was the very definition of clutch today...

I only saw the last 20 minutes of the game (and luckily the goal), but your points are valid Vinman. I don't think we really need to watch more games to know the simple truth... DC should be starting over Molinaro consistently and our strikers need a lot more service. If Ranieri has half a brain, he'll start Giovinco against Cagliari...

I don't know why people continue to deny these facts. We are really playing with fire with the way we are so inept in attacking, and it's going to hurt us in the future, just like it did against the middle table teams last season. Giovinco could potentially be a help to this problem but I think Ranieri is too afraid to use him or doesn't think he fits in his beloved 4-4-2.

But I've said this plenty of times and I'm sure I'll be saying it again and again and again..

at least let him try Giovinco in the next Serie A matches and see how he perform

let's just say we were very very lucky to get a win
we weren't exactly outplayed but they had the better chances and we never looked like being the home team
Trez was invisible, Camo injured and Mollinaro sucked big time but then there was a stroke of absolute genius from our captain
did we deserve to win? hell no but that doesn't matter now
we have the three points and that is what counts

I think you said that our performance was great against udinese, and you said "Bravo Ranieri" in ur comment..
Not to mention your comment about Poulsen in Udi game and here

Now tell me, how is possible that same, actually our better team , ie Legro, DP, Trez (ok Molinaro) was so bad after just 3 days? Tactic? Or Zenith is much better team than Udinese?

I know its not perfect but win is win, and its 3 points..We won with same score against Udi, and played so much better...So we can..

Poulsen made far too many mistakes in this game I agree, but I also think he looked tired.

The good news is that we survived Zenit. We were outclassed, and there's always something to learn from this game.

Im not trying to give excuses for Juve's performance, but I also think we should take into account of what Pavel has said - Juve really was tense and nervous for their CL 'debut', and understandably so I guess. Plus Zenit has played far more this season and they should've gained their momentum and fitness level, whereas our Juve has played 2 games - Fiorentina and Udinese. I think we should be able to improve in our next CL outing.

Nedved said:
“I felt it and I saw some of my teammates who were very tense in the first half. They couldn’t express themselves as well as usual.”
Pavel tells it like it is. That's the bottom line, we were too tense and this game had a huge psychological barrier. There's no need to call on the apocalypse because of this match.

It was visible on most of the players, especially on Molinaro(well not much of an excuse because he plain sucks), but most of all on our midfield duo, Sissoko and Poulsen. Sissoko got his act together though and actually was one of our best players on the pitch at the end, alongside Alex, but Poulsen was visibly fazed by the importance of the match and the competition. He made some amateur mistakes and his long range passing was below par. Not to mention the loss of Camoranesi early in the game...when you think about it we held out pretty well without our most important player in the midfield.

We should just how compact and strong in the midfield we are in the first two games of Serie A. We moved a lot and created a lot of chances. Those two matches were no coincedence, this match was. Because of the psychological barrier for some of our key players and because of a great and highly motivated opponent. They were highly agressive and their midfielders simply choked us, it was incredible to watch how a team defends and attacks all together from start to finish. There are no individuals there, everyone works as a unit, even the star player Arshavin goes back to defend. Quite impressive IMO.

I'll admit I had underestimated Zenit, they are great team with incredible physical strength and fantastic individuals. Yesterday I expected more from Arshavin but luckily for us he didn't cause too many troubles. I was really impressed by Pogrebnyak, that guy is a bull and outmuscled pretty much everyone that he got in a duel with. But when I said there's no chance of us not qualifying, this is what I meant. Zenit can trouble us, cost us points, but at the end we have a clear advantage over them; experience and mental strength in such competitons. That's what's gonna get us through in this group; our selected individuals; Gigi, Ale, Nedved, Camo, Trez. Zenit are a young team, even though they're extremely talented, you need experience to go through in the CL. They don't have that.

Out of the match, I think you only need to single out 3 players; Chiellini, Ale and Sissoko.

Chiellini is on par with Cannavaro. From me, that's the highest praise a CB can get. He's amazing, there's no other way of putting it. Always on the right place, great in heading, tackling, doesn't make stupid fouls and clears the ball with ease. We have a jewel in our defense for years to come.

Sissoko, didn't function as well as the first two games with Poulsen, but at the end of it he really impressed. Great solo runs, though he sometimes overdoes himself, but most of all....work rate. This guy can run for 180minutes straight, without loosing a breath. The way he takes the ball from the opponent is sublime, he made an art out of it. I had goosebump everytime he won the ball and the whole stadium cheered on him. I love the guy, I really do, he's my MOM with Ale.

Alex...our national TV was showing the match yesterday and pretty much everyone was watching it. Believe me when I say, all of my high-school friends who either hated or loved him, were sms-ing me throughout the game. In a nutshell, the messages were; "kakva carcina!". Translated means "what a king/emperor" and in the local slang, that's pretty much the highest praise you can get. He was on great form yesterday, dribbling around defenders with ease and moving a lot. The goal was sublime, though it is the keepers fault most of all. It took C.Ronaldo a number of tries to pull of a curve like that, Ale did it at first. ;) The only downside to his game were some poorly taken corners and freekicks.

All in all, it was a below-average display compaired to our first two games in Serie-A, but the ice is broken now and we got the 3 points.
