First, you were the one who came up with this Villarreal, saying how they are in quarters and we are not.

Come on, its obvious playing pana is easier then playing chelsea.

Which club is more suited and richer, we or villarreal? I dont know. Its a difficult q, and to be honest, i dont see many star names going to villarreal. They have been building their team for years, its Pellegrinis long term project. We on the other hand come back from B.
I have to laugh at this because it looks so simple but it is so complicated.

No it is not obvious because a side like ours that has a manager far too cautious and not a winner by nature has this kind of handicap.

I had not heard of BATE before this season's cl but we could not defeat them, I had heard of Real Madrid but we beat them home and away, why because the manager did not have to do much to motivate his players against Real Madrid and Real Madrid would have underestimated this juventus side so it is a tad easier to play against them as they were more open in their approach

Panathinaikos on the other hand, we have everything to lose and they would have definitely be far more defensive in their approach and as we have proved many times under ranieri, games we think we should win easily we don't as we do not have the necessary quality to open teams up but Villareal do.

You asked if I thought Chelsea were lucky against us, and my answer was a resounding heel yeah!

We do not have too many quality players, played with 10 men and still managed to be leading them 2-1 that is why I asked if Chelsea was your team, won't u be disappointed in them.

@Red yes they were cl runners up but so were Monaco and look where they are now. I have seen them a lot of times this season and have not been duly impressed.

Geez we are talking like they are an unbeatable side but they are not and with less caution should have been knocked out.

Come on Burnley knocked them out from the carling cup at home, Southend almsot dumped them out of the FA cup as they drew at stamford bridge and were a goal up at home before they missed a golden chance to be 2-0 up before Chelsea came back to win.

No Red I dont think they are a great side, they have some wonderful individuals that can win a game or at leats salvage a game but as a team, they are not all that

they had another manager when they got kicked out by Burnley.

And comparing monaco and chelsea....well thats just odd. Be in mind that monaco was a once in a life time anyway.

Seriously, how can you compare a regular title contender, a side who has made it quarters, semis and final regularly, and one of the best sides in epl to a side like monaco, aka putting it to your words: I have to laugh at this because it looks so simple but it is so complicated.

Denco, Even under Mourinho, they were basically just a well organised side with a few players who could do something brilliant to win a game.

Hiddink has gone back to that.

And i'm still saying it, but you countered it with the fact that Panathinaikos beat Inter. So did Atalanta but playing vs Chelsea and Atalanta in CL isn't the same.
You try to downplay Chelsea's top quality and you overrate Villareal and Panathinaikos, just to prove a point.

You can't do it.
Chelsea are a much better and stronger team than Villareal and PAO whichever way you look at it and Villareal's 1/4 final participance has everything to do with the draw back in December. Let Villareal eliminate a strong team in the 1/4's and only then you will have a point to argue.
Do you think we would have eliminated Villareal if we came up against them because I seriously doubt that.

I am not downplaying anything as Villareal eliminating Panathinaikos is the same as we eliminating Chelsea when you consider the pedigree of all the teams involved.

You are making it sound like we are just a johnny come lately team with no experience whatsoever.

There is noone in the pana, villareal or chelsea side that has scored more cl or important goals in big tournaments than Dp and Trez. Goals are the most important part of football and we have in addition to those 2 Amauri and Iaquinta that can score 15 goals a season in any league; something none of those sides can boast of.

Noone of those sides can boast of European footballer of the year like Nedved, in Buffon we have the best goalkeeper and I do not have the time to talk about others so let us not compare ourselves to Panathinaikos and Villareal.

you say that we could not beat villarreal. YET, you think we should have beated chelsea, aka we have enough quality.

Yes but Red was talking about them from last season so I am well within my right of talking about them from then onwards.

What do u mean Monaco once in a lifetime, Monaco at that period had always challenged for the league title, under Wenger got to the cup winners cup final and at one stage knocked united out of cl with a Trzeguet volley.

It is just lately that they have been pants, same thing Chelsea will be if Roman leaves, it is not as if they were to be reckoned with but thats all moot.

@Red I guess they are well organised but you have to admit they are nothing special

Oh, please. It's far from being the same and the pedigree counts for shit here. Why should we dismiss Chelsea's last years and count Juventus' achievements in the 1970's?
You know, i think i could beat the shit out Muhammad Ali today.

So who is special then?

Only Man Utd and Barca are significntly better than Chelsea right now.

Are there only two teams in world football that are out of the ordinary right now?

The way Chesea played over 2 legs against us of course I think we should have beaten them over 2 legs.

It is not just quality that let us down it was being to cautious especially in the 1st leg.

Was anyone of you guys in the stadium?

After Chelsea scored the 2nd, the whole stadium went upside down cheering for Juve hoping for a come back in addition to respect for the team.. Loved the spirit. Really wished I was there.

If that how it felt through the TV I bet live there it would have been euphoric.

That is not the point, the point here is that on this forum Chelsea have been put on to far up a pedestal.

The way Barcelona were playing 4 weeks ago and the way Manchester United are now if we took them to the brink that we did this Chelsea side then I would have been impressed but not the Chelsea I see struggling against Wigan, Portsmouth and others they have done this season.

But Chelsea over the years haven't made a habit of outplaying and hammering opponents.

They specialise in winning close games 1-0 or 2-0.

Playing big games is a different skill to winning week in week out in the league, so I'm not that interested in what these sides do against small teams.

What are you talking about?

Are you saying that the 70s is the last time Juve was successful? Who is dismissing Chelsea's last years and how can anybody dismiss pedigree and say it counts for shit?

Do you know why Juventus are able to survive so quickly after being relegated? Do you know why Napoli and Fiorentina have taken so long to do the same?

Yes thats right it is pedigree that according to you does not count for shit. We have it because of our history and no matter how bad things are going when we meet Real Madrid, United, Liverpool Barcelona or anyother big side, it is a big deal.

Villareal cannot say the same as they will always be underdogs. They always call us Italian giants and rightly so.

Actually let me ask all you guys something were you all terribly impressed with Chelsea over 2 legs and do you think they will the Cl this year?

But you have to admit that those victories have been very comfortable not scrapping out results.

The only time I have seen them comfortable under Hiddink was against Coventry.

@Ahmed winning streak against Watford, Villa, Juventus, Wigan, Portsmouth and Coventry

Sometimes those can be very deceptive especially if you did not watch the games
