thats a stupid comment, we wouldn't win trophys whatever system we played because our team isn't good enough!!!
If the right system was accomodated we DO have good enough players we have 3 classy strikers up front that would break into most teams yet we only field 2,Nedved he is clearly passed it,Gio is not even considered anymore this really is ironic don't give me the bull about the squad because it is good enough.

In the end, you need to score. If you don't but still manage to create chances it won't take you in the next round or give you 3pts if your playing in the league BUT it shows that you can "box" with the other club and it gives you hope for the return leg.

Execution is the key word and that will take us to the next round. Let's concentrate, leave the nerves in the dressing room and make those key plays.

We have the will and "balls", now it's time to put it in the f*ckin' net.
T R E Z E G U E T!

I am watching the game again now, why didn't anyone mention the Del Piero shot that was saved by Chec in the first half? The one that resulted in a corner that caused havoc by Amauri's header? I know why because it emphasises that some people are fans of mediocrity.
I mentioned those chances at least 5 times. Amauri's header was also a great chance. He usually scores from such chances but tonight it went too wide and Chiellini was too late. I'm also watching the match again. :D

First of all, the score is alright considering we were playing away. Our performance was good as well..

Detailed report:
First of all, unless Marchisio was not fit I disagree with starting Tiago over him. Marchisio adds so much to the team than Tiago and has much better control of the midfield.
Now to the main problem. We are doomed with out first 10-15 min. Look at most of our games, we concede very early in the game then when the clock strikes 15 min we fire up well and start looking for the equalizer. We have to find a solution NOW for this problem our we won't progress further. Whether we are playing home or away, the problem persists. The Sampdoria game, we conceded in the first 10 min then we spent the rest of the match searching for the equalizer. In Palermo if it wasn't for Buffon we would have conceded at least twice in the first 15 min.

Over all, our performance was good. A few players were off their game but in general decent performance especially when you take into consideration that we are playing away.

Buffon: couldn't do anything for the goal. And was on his mark otherwise when tested. 6.5
Melberg: He is no RB. Defensively he was ok but offensively he was anything but impressive. 5.5
Legro: Decent performance if you exclude the first 10 min. His second half appearance was pretty good. 6.5
Chiellini: He is yet to reach his top level but that is expected since he was sidelined for a while. An Alright performance 6
Molinaro: Ran ALOT. But as always he left his mark many times which was pretty dangerous against us. He plays from his heart and for that he deserves our respect BUT he has to improve ALOT. Terrible passing mistakes at critical areas and times. Legro had to cover for him a number of times 5.5
Camoranesi: Although in fairness sake he only played less than 3 games in total the whole season, I expected more. The reason was simply emotional from my side. He is yet to reach his top level of fitness. Unfortunately, we won't see him reaching that this season because he cannot stay fit long enough. Thanks goes to our medical and fitness staff. 5
Sissoko. MOM enough said. He was everywhere. 8
Tiago: I know some of the members here and even "some online rating" rated him high BUT it was clear, at least for me, that the midfield functioned better with Marchisio in it. He had an alright game. He did give Del Piero a nice assist, but thats about it. Sissoko was doing the heavy duty work for the whole midfield alongside Nedved. 5.5
Nedved: What can I say about him. Maybe the most distance covered by a player in both teams, yet I think he was the eldest on the pitch. Deserves all respect. Was close to give us the equalizer at the end of the game where we should have been awarded a corner kick. 7
Amauri: Chelsea's defense gave him a hard time. There were periods in the match where he had completely disappeared. Did not get enough support from the midfield (Tiago and Camo's jobs). Never the less gave some bother to the Chelsea defense. 6.5
Del Piero: Started off the game slowly but immediately after the goal he came to life. His performance got better as the game progressed. Unfortunately, as in the case of amauri, did not get enough support from Tiago and Camoranesi, so he had to drop back alot almost to half our field to get the ball going. Ran alot and was close to scoring. 7

Marchionni: Made his presence felt from the first second. Was far superior to Camoranesi. He opened up the field and gave a chance for Del Piero and Amauri to stay up ahead and receive some assists. The midfield literally fired up once he has put a foot on the field. 7
Marchisio: Same as Marchionni. very good performance. Proved once again he should be a first 11 choice for us. His partnership with Sissoko is out best choice in the center of the midfield. He was so good and covered all his bases that Ranieri was willing to risk taking off Sissoko and bring in another striker. Although He was alone in the center of the midfield against the likes of Lampard he held his ground well. Saved us with his hand ball. 7
Trezeguet: Severely lacking match fitness. Had a good chance from a brilliant assist from Del Piero where in his usual day would easily score it (trezeuget's standards). Cannot be rated because he played for 5 min only. N/A.

Ranieri: as said before IF Marchisio was ready he should have started. I am not sure about putting melberg in the RB position while Grygera is ready. I agree with brining in Trezeguet for Sissoko in that time. Changes were all forced except the last one so nothing can be said about that. The team did improve alot in the second half so he did do something right. 6

So you think we should play 3 strikers and Gio? In what kind of formation?

But it's obvious that our 4-4-2 doesn't work against teams that play a 4-3-3, even ranieri admitted it, but I don't know what else we could do, I guess we're kinda stuck if guus plays a 4-5-1 which has two very mobile wingers/strikers.
4-3-3 is a system that inevitably allows teams to get one on one with our fullbacks, which is a recipe for disaster.

I still think 4-4-2 can work in the second leg, but it needs Marchisio to play CM with Sissoko to make the team as mobile as possible.

I would have no complaints if we changed to 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 to match up with Chelsea, though.

enlighten us? The champions league maybe? Serie A the year after being demoted? A coppa italia? What would we have won if we would have had this 'winning formation' you speak of??
I always thought Capello won back to back titles with ourselves guess I was wrong,I cannot believe you defend Ranieri when he truly is a looser.

What is so hard to understand here?

Only 50% of the road has been crossed, the other 50% will be in two weeks time in our garden to cross.

They have scored 1 goal. Fair enough. They defended better fair enough. But lets at least wait for the 2nd leg and see what we will be able or capable of doing playing home. And If Chelsea can play as good as we played away.

The chances are still 50-50 no matter how you see it. Evey single team is expected to perform better playing home infront of their crowds. The key is, how good can you perform good. We have seen the Chelsea part, now it's their turn to see ours.

If we fix our defense then it's all in our hands. Lets be optimistic, at least for once and have faith in this team. Nothing is lost, another 90min will be played in Turin and it's "us" the deciders whether to qualify or not, not Chelsea.

And i knew that the difference maker for Chelsea will be Drogba. All those talks about him being in bad form..... i fucking knew it that a beast like Drogba did not forget how to score.

    Would you bench Amauri?
Well I told you before the match, so yes :p Trez instead of Amauri and Marchisio instead of Tiago, remember?

But he should have been brought much earlier, you can't deny that!

I don't really follow EPL much but this Chelsea does look less pacey than Arsenal or Liverpool 3-4 years ago. That might be the reason why we could handle them better than the flying Arsenal for example. So, to sumarize, i don't think Chelsea's tempo was so high.

But this Chelsea is physically much stronger than that Arsenal. Drogba on on end, the defenders on the other, and strong guys like Ballack and Mikel in the center make it harder for us to take advantage of our main quality, and that's primarly our physical strenght.

It will be tough but Roma did beat them 3:1 after losing 0:1 in London. Yeah, group stages are different, you play for points, you don't care about the aggregate, but it still says that Chelsea are beatable by 2 goals difference.

    FORZA JUVE
Basically you're right but by tempo I didn't mean their running speed but the zip and vigour they play the ball with left sissoko looking like a headless chicken, in all I beleive we try to play this kind of englishy game but we haven't hit the nail on the head tactically.

It's not that easy man, before the match it was 50-50, now it is 80-90% for Chelsea. If they score only one goal, we have to score 3. 1-0 away score is much uglier than you think.

Please, the squad is nowhere near good enough. We have 1 winger in camo who is always injured, his back up is a retard. We haven't got a good fullback, and aside from chiellini we dont have a defender of internation pedigree, legro is good but he's not outstanding.

Also our central midfield is woeful bar sissoko. Tiago, Poulsen, an always injured Zanetti, and a young marchisio are not good enoguh for CL level. Nedved is past it and giovinco is not the answer to all of these problems.

So in summary we have 1 WC midfielder, 1 WC Defender, a WC keeper and arguably 3 WC strikers. How in any way is this a team good enoguh to beat Chelsea? A team that has 2 WC strikers, 4 WC midfielders, 4 WC defenders and a WC keeper

Your so blind and convinced that our team is good enough you should apply to sit on the juventus board, with the other imbeciles who dont realise our shortcomings
