It's true, pile of shit groups every year. In reverse order:

Basel, CSKA, Benfica (1st)
Wolfsburg, PSV, CSKA (3rd)
Leverkusen, Shakhtar, Sociedad (1st)
Galatasaray, Cluj, Braga (1st)
Benfica, Basel, Galati (3rd)
Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor (1st)
CSKA, Wolfsburg, Besiktas (1st)
Villarreal, Aalborg, Celtic (1st)
Roma, Sporting CP, Dynamo Kyiv (1st)
Celtic, Benfica, Copenhagen (1st)
Villarreal, Benfica, Lille (4th)
Lyon, Fenerbahce, Sparta Prague (2nd)

That's 12 editions and they've met a couple of strong teams the entire time, the 04-05 Lyon and 07-08 Roma.
Money talks.

Was there a player who dominated Juve like Ronaldo? In my +20 years of fanhood, nobody we faced comes even close. He scored in each of the 5 CL matches against Juve, a total of 7 goals. You just know that at one point in 90 minutes he will score. We will need at least 3 goals to go through. Probably 4 goals. In Turin we must score at least 2.
Yeah. He’ll score. And RM have nothing else to play for. Still, how they utterly fucked up their other competitions is telling. 2 years titleholders isn’t anything to sneeze at. But they have holes in their armor.

More Benzema, plz.

I think Roma can trouble Barca

I really was not impressed with Barca against Chelsea, they did not look dangerous at all and don't seem to be able to control games like they used to be able to

Roma are more than good enough to trouble Barca so this match is open for me

Man, they have Messi, and he is not going to be on his off day in both matches, so bye Roma.

No worries, Marchisio got this.

In all seriousness, you're exactly right. The min # of goals we need to score and the min # we'll concede in this tie are obvious.

Pretty sure Max learned his lesson from R16.

Julio Cruz scored 12 against Juve during his career.

How many Totti scored?

Liverpool to go through, which is good since they are the worse team.

But Dai, if they worse why would they go through? you say, because the Kloppo footy just works against Pep in that battle of tactical stubborness.

It will take a mighty performance from us to knock Real out

No doubt it's going to be 180 minutes of nerve inducing pain to see us hang on and try to overcome them

I think if we don't win the first leg and up drawiing something like 2-2 we are probably as good as out unless they get an early red card or something strange happens in Madrid

I wonder how they will play in Torino if they will give us too much respect and allow us to attack or if they will look to be the aggressor from the beginning

Definitely a fascinating match up ahead and I look forward to it but at the same time i'm very apprehensive about it

We got this. Max is gonna destroy Zizou and let RM with empty hands this season

They deserved it... too much ref help last couple of year, UCL, Clubs World Cup, super cup, like every time

- - - Updated - - -

and deflected goals... it's like too much, this RM doesn't deserve to be between the best in the history and if they win this season they would be top 5 for sure... our duty is to prevent that shit

I dont know.. I was much more optimistic about our chances over the past few years.. I mean even vs Bayern I felt better than I feel about this tie
We have few options vs Real and all of them suck
4-3-3 - It didnt work vs Tottenham and then we changed to 4-2-3-1 which put them down. against Real it means we are trying to fight their possession and limit their holding of the ball - PROBLEM - their trio are far better than ours..
4-2-3-1 It means leaving the central of the midfield to Real but skipping straight to the attacking zone - Its good because we will lose our midfield battle anyway , its bad because we dont want to give Real too many chances
3-5-2 - This is a formation to defend a lead so I cant see us trying it if we dont take the lead and go into the 2nd half that way..

I think most of us are fans who cant really be unbiased about our chances but if you try to look at it as an outsider then this tie suits Real who also have the advantage of Pjanic out for the first leg.. Real have around 75% to go through IMO

What about 4-3-2-1 it has to be first option but then again we will have midfield of marchisio khedira and matuidi which on current form will not be able to match real Madrid midfield

I adore this Tuz concept that one must flip the script and go full retard in the opposite direction in order to be "unbiased". It's not enough to take a measured look at things, and realize that Madrid should be at best slight favourites, nope, one must say that it's Real Madrid 75% because we are so bad, even though we're unbeaten in 24 matches and they're having a complete stinker of a season in all competitions, 4th place in the league, 2nd in CL behind the team we just knocked out. Their only achievement of note this year is demolishing PSG in Rof16. I'd give them 55-45 due to our injuries and first leg suspensions, and they just seem to kill it in the CL the past few years.

That 75% though. :baus:

With the betting companies Real Madrid are 3 times more likely to go through than Juve according to the odds

we are 1.5 for a bet Madrid are 0.5 for a bet to qualify

He's not that far off with his odds
