We will be better than before just not by the degree that we would have been had we kept Pogba. Our pattern is to take two steps forward in improving the team and then one step backward. But we are nevertheless progressing as a club. We signed Dybala and Mandzu then lost Tevez and llorente. We signed khedira and then lost vidal and pirlo. We signed Pjanic then lost Pogba and so on. But we improve overall because we sign more good players than we let go.
Ideally we would have kept Tevez and Vidal last season or kept Pogba and Morata this season in addition to the incoming transfers but thats life. As long as we are progressing I am more than happy. The only threat is if EPL teams take a sudden leap in quality. They all brought in great coaches who are likely to get the most off their squads and they have all become insanely rich all of a sudden.
We need to progress atleast at the same pace as those behind us (EPL teams) and faster than those infront of us (Bayern, Madrid, Barca). It would suck if EPL teams catch up to us over the next 2 years.
