The one thing that Argentina missed at the worldcup, was a playmaker or player to connect midfield with attack.
Messi tried to fall back and do stuff , but every team that is not Belgium knows by now how do deal with that, and furthermore , it was too easy to cut off the supply to him.

Now, Argentina dont got a midfield general. Biglia is the only one, and that says enough cause he's mediocre (sorry ches).

But what if they would have brought Tevez along ?. If he would have played a simular role as he performs at juventus currently, with Aguero/Higuain and Messi in front of him, and giving Messi pretty much a free role there, that would have been quite something else.

One of THE best things about tevez is how he can drop off and link up with midfield, and is pretty difficult to get off the ball. This would have taken considerable workload from Messi's shoulders, who could just drift around Tevez and seak for space, or the combination with Tevez and Aguero.

Messi is ALOT better at the role you want to give Tevez. Tevez would been better off getting the Aguero/Lavezzi role in that set up, SS drifting into open channels from wide areas next to Higauin, Messi nr 10 role worked out real well for him since he has tons of qualities to fullfill the role, problem was the midfield behind him was so meh in possession and solely hold together by Mascherano.

But messi needs to be close to the goal so hecant od both.

Tevez should have been the one

Messi doesnt need to be that close since he brings up the ball with ease with runs, he is playing quite deeper nowadays as nr 10, and is great playmaker so defenitely more suited for the in the hole role then Tevez. Tevez better off running in out of the zones between and infront of the defence as SS, and is more about one-twos then cutting through balls to the attack in the hole AM position behind two attackers. Messi; Tevez - Aguero/Higauin makes more sense then the reverse.

You miss the point. By giving this role to tevez, you allow Messi to be much closer to the goal, and much harder to mark.

The idea is entirely to get the ball forward without having him to bring it there
