Glad to see him back and ready to be an integral part of another new winning cycle that is about to begin.

Smart and efficient decision by the club imo, renewing him was a must for this current group of players.

We keep Bonucci and Chiellini, but sell our future in Romero and then Demiral

4 players in De Ligt , Demiral, Romero and Chiellini we will be set for at least 5-6 years and we only need to find a replacement once Chiellini retire
I don't know what the management saw in Bonucci, but if there is chance to oflload him that should be the priority

Bonucci's too old to leave for a fee, has a long contract with a hefty salary. No chance of him leaving.

Right on cue. :sergio:

When fit, who exactly is going to bench Chiellini?
Staying fit is a challenge for him though. He's played less than half the number of minutes Bonucci has in the past three seasons. A cursory glance suggests that if I include couple of seasons before that, the gap will increase. I think we'll see De Ligt and Bonucci as our starters and Chiellini as first change with a few starts here and there.

He had great performances during Euros. He proved he can still offer quality. Our defense is bad enough having Bonucci. I don't mind one bit having Chiellini stay, he's a club legend imo and he's a better player than these new kids popping up. We've got much important issues to focus on, rather than fixing our DC position. Our budget seems tinny and majority of money should go towards new mids. Selling Chiellini and searching a new DC wouldn't make much sense at this point.

Staying fit will be a huge challenge, obviously.
But when fit, I expect him to start most games.

I think majority of people wanted him gone after season ends. Now everyone celebrates the extension.
Some people. Not a majority I would hope/think.

What? Pretty sure most people wanted him to stay and it were only a few nutters who wanted him gone.

I might have exaggerated when I said majority. But it's not some. Chiellini made plenty of mistakes in the previous season, possibly most from our defense.

...Who too had great performances during Euros ;)
And? Italy played amazing football, we do not.

Bonucci is bad and liable. I love the "Bonucci is great but he's just bad at defending". Yeah, that defines a good defender.
