Italian football has changed so much now from the 1990's when it was the dominant force in Europe...back then they had at last learned the profit of attacking football while still keeping the traditional Italian defensive values in place. Now, it's more about attack only & how much European success has that brought modern calcio by comparison? Italian players & coaches have been influenced by watching too much bloody English premiership!
yes,i hope Juve could create another great centre back(fingers cross on Criscito)cos there are really not so much great defenders nowadays who are italian,i thought paolo cannavaro would be really good but he is nowhere near his brother, matteo ferrari is lost somewhere, cesare bovo isn't as good as people claim him to be,i mean look at england they're developing plenty of great defenders nowadays, heck even brazil aren't only developing their technical gifted players, theyre trying real hard to develop great defenders, and really they're starting to improve little by little..
Therefore getting cannavaro, who is pretty much the only available italian cb at the moment wouldn't be so bad,i think he could really help criscito, then when criscito is set, canna can end his career for napoli like he always wanted..

so i think ranieri does think that we need an italian defender to partner andrade, thats very good i think...either barza,or canna would be welcome..but i really wonder aren't there any other great italian defenders out there, seriously, italy with no defenders are like so unbelievable..
i agree, but if you watched the u21 championships the italian defence was the worst in the tournament and the attack was the best, how times have changed!! The worst defender in the whole tournament was italian: Andreolli, honestly i have never seen a worse defender in my entire life

Veterans Doubtful Over Cannavaro Return

It seems that the will of Juve's "senators", such as Buffon, Del Piero and Trezeguet, could be decisive for the possible return of Fabio Cannavaro to the club.

Seeing Fabio Cannavaro back with Juventus is a hypothesis, but to realise it the Naples-born player will need the support of his ex-team mates. In fact, according to rumours it is the Bianconeri "senators" - Trezeguet, Del Piero and Buffon who stayed in Serie B - who are against the return of Cannavaro to the club.

The reason is simple: inside the dressing room, those who abandoned the ship while it was sinking is considered almost like a traitor: Cannavaro, just like Zambrotta, Ibrahimovic, Capello etcetera.

However, the Juve veterans are apparently keeping close contact these days to decide whether to give the green light for the club to allow the operation: in this case it's possible that the good of the club will be chosen first of all.

Seriously, I'm no mod but for me that would be a reason for a ban.

I once read an interview with Ale where he said that he and Canna talked a lot on the phone but never about Fabio's transfer to Real because he said that Fabio didn't owe him any explanation at all. He had every right in the world to take his decision.
I don't know if the goal.com article is credible - I only know that they took it from tuttosport so that already explains a lot...:D

Plus Pessotto (who's obviously not playing anymore but has a word or two to say as well) in the winter said:"Fabio knows that if he wants come back he will always be welcomed."

The traitor-thing is definitely NOT true. They're all professional players. It's great that they stayed but the certainly didn't expect that from the other players as well. Plus Trez is stated in the article: he wanted to leave, too, but was forced to stay. So maybe it's true that they aren't all positive about a possible Canna- comeback but they SURELY don't consider him as a traitor!

He's a professional who took his decision after his club was supposed to go down to Serie B without him being responsable for this.
And do you know who wanted Cannavaro at Juve because he believed in him? Capello.
And who made that transfer possible? Moggi.

Juve is not the players it is the fans...and the majority feel he is a traitor...he could have been a Bianconeri legend...instead his time is just a bitter & painful memory

hmmm i dont know im quite split on canna still, i mean we dont know if he wanted to move or if he was forced too. i think he was prepared to stay in serie B if he had too, but perhaps the board cudnt pay his wages and had to sell him, its players like zlatan who actually wanted to go that i consider the true traitors, but to me canna, i take both views on it

there is such a thing as a pay cut...Ale took 1 even when Juve was at the height of its powers...
well tbh even if everyone wanted to stay, we had to make some sacrifices to free up some finances, like i said im still split on canna, i dont exactly hate him, neither do i like him as much as i used too, i think this whole is canna a traitor or not is still pretty grey to me unlike vieira and zlatan. i think there is no doubt there is still some juve in canna's heart

I must agree with you. I have the same feeling, that we must sell some players and we choose wich one to sell. We could't sell our legends (Bufo, DP, Trez And Neddy) and we must sell te oldest and the most valuable players. I think that the only one which we don't wan't to sell was Ibra. Because of his age.

i am really sick from your comments,
u r concedering cannavaro as a traitor .. he did what he should do at his age, went to spain, won the cup..
he was a world champion, he won the world cup, he was near to win the best player, and he did.. u expect him to stay in seria B .. this guy is great and i dont care if he left juve for any reason coz i always considered him as the best..

so stop insulting a great player, stop insulting the captian of the italians ..
