ivanovic is not (yet) worldclass, so stop whining please. He was not even benched at chelsea, how could he be the solution to all of our problems in the defense. IF we buy a defender, i think we should go for an established, proven (!) and experienced RB/CB.
I'd have loked ivanovic in a juve-shirt, but it's the same thing as with flamini; if we have to spend a fortune to get him, and another fortune to pay his wages, i prefer not having him. He may have been a hot prospect, but there must be something why chelsea are selling him for peanuts. And only because they are stuffed with excellent defenders is no reason really. If ivanovic is such a wonderkid, scolari would loan him out or something and wait until his time comes; chelsea don't need those 10 millions or what they'd gain from his transfer.

as i said; for 5 millions, i'd welcome him any time, but if we have to get into a bidding war, let others do the gamble, we can go on for another year or 2 with grygera and zebina...

Vimo, reports say Milan want him on loan with an option to buy him for 9.3m eur next summer.

Milan will have to pay Chelsea 2.2m eur for the loan and pay Ivanovic's wages (the same wages he earns in Chelsea, i don't know how much).

If Milan achieve this i don't see why we couldn't. We won't have to pay too much and after a year we'll know what kind of player Ivanovic is. If he won't satisfy then nothing, but if he plays well then we can get him for a relatively cheap price.

well yes, in that case i agree, we can compete (depending on how much his wages are). but i doubt that. With the financial power milan has, i think berlusconi would not risk that much and prefer to pay 10 or even the whole 13 millions immediately... We don't know really... I have my doubts, because of several reasons; we don't know how good he really is, we NEED to sell zebina if he comes (he'd never accept being 3rd choice), i suppose he earns quite a lot (for his age) at chelsea, ...
I don't know... I'd rather wait another year or 2 and then make the big signing, someone world-class. Maybe it is because i overrate our defense but i don't see all that need to buy new defenders...

No disagreement here.
We'll have to see what will Kenyon say on Monday. It's reported that everyone's waiting for him to make the final decission.
From what i could read, all the Chelsea fans are united in this case and they are all against letting Ivanovic go. It also could be the case with Abramovich and Kenyon and at the end Chelsea could simply say Fuck Off to Milan or they can say "Milan wanted to make an offer but we stopped them before they even made it".

But if Chelsea don't want to sell this summer and they're open for a loan deal, then we mustn't give up just like that, especially since it's one of our serie A rivals we're "fighting" against.

Btw, this is interesting, even though the source is Tuttosport and i don't know if Ancelotti did say this to Tuttosport journalists.

Ivanovic was tipped as the favourite but Ancelotti has given his take on the whole affair.

“Who do I prefer? Ivanovic? Alex Silva? To be honest, neither of them,” Ancelotti told Tuttosport.

“I am a little concerned about the injuries but it will take some time for the players to recover.

“As for anything else regarding injuries, it’s the doctors who are in charge of these matters, not me.”

Regardless, I see Ivanovic heading to Milan faster than we expected. They are just better at getting these players.

Our management will never learn this lesson... we are supposed to act faster in the market... when we hesitate to seal a deal and broadcast our interest around Europe as we always do we will must certainly end up with nothing but disappointment.

We CAN'T compete against the likes of Milan financially but that doesn't justify inviting them into a bidding war we will certainly lose each time we are linked to a player.

They are just better at getting all kinds of players.
That's because they can offer higher wages, that's because they have done well in the Champions League and helped Italian football. This my friend is the reason why some people cheer for Milan in the CL, so they will help Italian football and offer players higher wages and steal them from under our nose.

Why? because they are richer?

Ancelotti Slams Door On Ivanovic

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has closed the door on Branislav Ivanovic and Alex Silva by revealing that he doesn’t want either of them.

The Rossoneri’s injuries at the back have caused concern for the coach, and reports in Italy suggest that he may consider making another dip into the market before the transfer window closes.

Alessandro Nesta’s on-going back problem has caused Il Diavolo to panic but it doesn’t look serious enough to warrant the arrival of another player.

Milan will be challenging for the Scudetto this term and Ancelotti needs to ensure he has a decent enough squad at his disposal to be able to do so.

Wait for 2 years??
It's too long...we need a world class RB right now
Zebina and Grygera can't stand in high level football for more 2 years
