it was part of my high school reading list. and yeah it was quite good. but in those days i read almost nothing so today i'd be much more cynical probably

i think he is the best of the russians (of whom i'm not a big fan), but even there i only really liked one of the books.

they are very tiresome those russians. well written and but written in a time of no tv and radio.

i prefer turgenev but that has alot to do with how he depicts everyday russia in his period.

imo those books are written for people who just can't bear having so much happiness in their lives (danes perhaps) and they need some reason to be depressed

all the characters are so tragic, so worthless
