2004 dutch team wasn't that great either
don't forget our dutch team has a great team spirit and that is which took us to the final of the wc last year. Ofcourse in 1998 and 2000 we had a better team on paper. But this current team is pretty good together. And fits each other perfectly, which took us to the world cup final and we almost won it.

and our starting eleven hasn't change a lot only van bronkhorst is replaced with willems (I hope, all though it probably will be schaars) and affelay for Kuyt.
Which is a huge upgrade. I am not scared for this Italy team at all to be honest. I think France, Germany can hurt Holland more

In what way would your rate the team in 2010 better than the current team ? Apart from being the current world champions at that time, that team was much more worst than the current one playing in this Euros.
Going to the tournament, we even had poor outings from Euro 2008 and the Confederation Cup in 2009. Surely, we weren't over rated that time.

What i meant was Italy were never rated to win the tournament. No one would expect Italy to do poor, always decent showing but we would never be rated among top 3 bracket.
Same situation here, where you rated France, Germany and Holland to do more than Italy. Not to forget the obvious favorite Spain as well. Apart from Germany and Spain, I don't think France and Holland are on a level above Italy.
On par maybe, but not a big difference where they a rated a level above.

That's true, but its the present that counts, no? And De Rossi has been in pretty good form this season, easily one of Roma's best players, one of the few success stories of LE's reign in charge.

I don't know if you saw the last Italy-Spain match, but Montolivo was actually one of the better players and scored a nice goal. He's better for Italy than he'll ever get credit for on this forum.

I know Montolivo gets a lot of shit around here but I think he is a decent player. He also played well at the WC'10 IMO.

I just have a feeling he'll perform well. Marchisio will be effective, yet quiet. Just like he usually is with Juventus.
