I know this isn't really the right thread to post in, but fuck it, massive game in a few hours time against Japan in Saitama. @JuveJay

Japan's team is amazing at the moment, plenty of their players plying their trade in the Bundesliga, EPL, Serie A etc. Whereas, our "golden generation" of 2006 is still being used by the miserable old hack Holger Osieck, and he insists with playing his boring ass 4-4-2 with two uncreative midfield holders, and relying on our wingers/fullbacks to pump endless and futile crosses into the box, in the hope that Timmy Cahill will get his head on the end of them.

We're currently 3rd in the group, and have two games after this one, would be fantastic if we could even hold on for a draw, but I think this Japan team will be too powerful for us (LOL, hope the rumours are true of Zaccheroni possibly experimenting his favourite 3-4-3 formation), and we're gonna HAVE to win our two last games against Jordan and Iraq to seal automatic qualifcation. This is one of our biggest qualification games since Uruguay in 2005.

Forza Australia!
Japan are as good as qualified barring a disaster, but I'm sure you'll be shitting your pants throughout the game as Japan create a million chances. But don't worry, because they will miss 99% of them.

A draw wouldn't surprise me.

Sounds like a team I know :D

A draw would be amazing, but I just can't shake the feeling that Japan will beat us. Our starting CBs are Neill-Ognenovski. Two mid 30 players - one who has barely played club football in 6 months and the other plying his trade for the world renowned Umm-Salal.

I hope we see some of Robbie Kruse and Tommy Oar. Two very exciting young prospects for Australia. Especially Oar, a winger in the Harry Kewell mould (minus the massive douchiness)

What time is the game?
8:30PM

Schwarzer; Wilkshere; Neil; Ognenovski; McKay; Milligan; Bresciano; Oar; Kruse; Holman; Cahill.

Not too bad. But central defence still too old and slow (but experienced), McKay isn't a LB's arsehole, and Cahill as the lone striker indicates this will be more of a 4-6-0 then 4-2-3-1 :D. Look for plenty of long balls from Luca$h and co in the direction of Cahill. We will defintely see Josh Kennedy on at some point I guess.

Happy that Oar and Kruse are starting. Oh and Holger springs a surprise and doesnt start with two holding midfielders. Bresh/Milligan is a much better midfield in terms of creativeness and holding possession.

Those two lol, really?

I think Honda is doubtful, has some fitness issues.

Zac will probably stick with the 4-2-3-1, Maeda on his own up front. If Honda doesn't play then Kagawa will probably take his role, with Kiyotake out right and Takashi Inui left. Australia better prepared to get dribbled on a lot, because those three AMs will run crazy lines around the final third, but they are no real threat outside the area.

Kagawa, Okazaki and Honda all starting.

I hope Luke Wilkshire snaps that Interista motherfucker Nagatomo's legs.

That penalty :( it was a fair call, but what was he thinking sticking out his arm with 3 minutes to go?

Yep. We call ourselves unlucky (referring to Australia - Italy) but we tend to crack in the final minutes quite a lot trying to absorb pressure for the full 90.

It would have been harsh on Japan to lose that game. They were the better side, particularly in the 2'nd half. Kudos to the Aussies though, for giving the Japanese a good game, what with their limited resources/personnel and all.

I still think Australia will go through in 2'nd, as the other teams in that group are nothing special.

Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan, and Australia to get the automatic qualifying spots, with Iran getting the playoff slot.
