I dunno what the ratio it is for italian based australians to actual aussies. but it must be close to at least a third of the population... and the better third at that... The italiani were the people who built the foundations of australia's prosperity... the most worthy and hardworking citizens are the italians. all the docters, the lawyers... they're mainly from italian origin. The thing is that the italian were creative and the asians were systematic... both crucial to austalias developement... I wonder where australia would be if italians never migrated..

Sorry to bump this old topic; but this great day happened 7 years ago and I was there at the stadium to witness it. One of the greatest nights of my life an absolutely phenomenal sporting event. Love it.

Well worth the repost! I re-watched the video again last night :touched:

Should be a national holiday as far as I'm concerned

Still get goosebumps watching it. That whole night was so magical, ill never forget it. So privileged to have watched it live at the stadium. Went along with about 20 mates, crazy. Time goes past so quickly. :touched:

I live in Oakleigh, where you from?
Do you sip frappe at Vanilla Cafe? :D

And what a team it was. Some of Australia's best ever players in the one group simultaneously at their peaks (mostly). I don't expect us to gather a group of players that good together for some time.

So true. A team that featured players plying their trade regularly in the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Eredivisie etc. Our best team ever IMO.

I know this isn't really the right thread to post in, but fuck it, massive game in a few hours time against Japan in Saitama. @JuveJay

Japan's team is amazing at the moment, plenty of their players plying their trade in the Bundesliga, EPL, Serie A etc. Whereas, our "golden generation" of 2006 is still being used by the miserable old hack Holger Osieck, and he insists on playing his boring ass, unimaginative 4-4-2 with two uncreative midfield holders, and relying on our wingers/fullbacks to pump endless and futile crosses into the box, in the hope that Timmy Cahill will get his head on the end of them.

We're currently 3rd in the group, and have two games after this one, would be fantastic if we could even hold on for a draw, but I think this Japan team will be too powerful for us (LOL, hope the rumours are true of Zaccheroni possibly experimenting his favourite 3-4-3 formation), and we're gonna HAVE to win our two last games against Jordan and Iraq to seal automatic qualifcation. This is one of our biggest qualification games since Uruguay in 2005.

Forza Australia!
