He can still harass and tackle. It's his bread and butter. However, he's a world away from that 10 goal a season, B2B midfielder of previous years at the moment. His passing, decision making and goal scoring are the worst facets of his game right now but these things are a matter confidence IMO. Reminds me of strikers in form lulls. Not necessarily losing their work ethic and can chase and press all game but when the ball comes to their feet they lack their usual attacking instincts and it's almost always due to lack of confidence.

One bad, injury interrupted season out of four ain't bad. It's happened to the best of them. Vidal has proven for a long time now that he's one of the best in the world. Consistent, injury-free playing time in his natural position will instill a new found confidence in him. I'm sure of it.

Though to be honest, I do believe that we've already seen his best seasons. As plenty of other players throughout the past decades have shown, coming back from an injury like the one he has sustained is extremely difficult, and he's not the youngest either anymore. Especially concerning his phyisical abilities, his pace and stamina, I wouldn't be surprised not to reach the levels of 2012/13.

Agree in general, but I'm more worried then you, because the energy levels he used to have, and tempo, is not the same anymore, thats the most different. Rest is attitude and confidence thing, that hopefully should get back. But the intensity to his game that made him what he is, not sure if he can get that back like before.
So basically this :D

He is still young, and he doesnt seem to be a wimpy boy IM not worried about his physical traits.... what im worried is whats going on in his head. Those full retard moments... those super innacurate passes.....thats just not vidal... and that is what is really worrysome

So is it safe to say Conte is to blame for using him last season when he wasn't fit and known to have a knee issue?
It is actually obvious that Conte has contributed to Vidal's injury development, that home match against Cesena or whatever small team just ahead of the second leg semi final against Benfica. Vidal was not supposed to be anywhere near the field but no, Conte had to field the best 11 game in, game out. Rotation is for sissies! That was one game, I am sure there are lots others...

Yeah I think it was against Sassuolo. And Vidal was basically limping around the field FFS.

But part of my point is that the physical side of his game isn't what's lacking right now. I don't see too much difference in his pace and stamina and he isn't actually that old relatively speaking. He runs and harasses nearly as normal but when in possession he looks lost and without confidence.
