They had Ibra and Silva in great form as well as some fantastic veterans. Their "role players" were up to the job most of the times too. That was a team that was on its way to eliminate Barca before the unexistent PK waa given. Also, they had a better coach than any of the EPL now

That Milan side without injuries is very good. But the way they were that season with Nocerino and Bonera being among leaders in minutes played - no thank you

I agree they had to play some average players because of injuries but they had a brilliant squad.

which is why I said when most players are fit that they are better than anyone in EPL now. If they had better depth that team would have been scary

Theres a lot of revisionism when it comes to that Milan team. They had very good options in attack and Silva and an aging (and almost always injured) Nesta in defence, but a whole lot of mediocrity and washed-up, finished players everywhere else.

I remember very well who was good and who was not when Conte came. It's ridiculous to even suggest that Azpilicueta or Cahill are or ever will be anything close to what Barzagli and Chiellini were even before Conte. Bonucci when Conte came was a question mark but he was quite young still at that time while Luiz is the same age as Bonucci is at the moment.

Pirlo and Vidal were already world class while Lichtsteiner was the best right back in Serie A at Lazio. I know most on here probably viewed us as lost cause before Conte came but I certainly don't fit that criteria. I knew we had enough quality once the players found the right mentality and motivation. No one does that better than Conte.

Barzagli was on Wolfsburg's bench. Check the first few pages of his thread if you want to throw up in your mouth a little.

Bonbon was marotta's worst crime and the biggest stick we used to beat him with. Its true that luiz is starting at a much older age though .

Marchisio was still a nobody and certainly had never had a season like Matic's title winning season.

Chelsea's squad won the title a couple of years ago while ours was a mix of new players and old ones who have been finishing miserably in serie a for years. Getting his juve squad to click is a tougher job than getting that Chelsea squad to click. Winning the EPL however is tougher than winning Serie A.

Coming down to the end Seedorf was crap. Pato was already a broken player. Amrbosini lol. Van Bommel was okay. Boateng was their star Abate and Zambrotta sucked.

Van Bommel and Ambrosini are greatly underestimated in terms of tactical solidity they offered. Seedorf was aging but still very good, Pato was amazing if fit, and zlatan was at his peak. Boateng was pretty decent aswel


That team would beat any single EPL team in a knockout. Zlatan alone is enough to clinch the title, he was the best CF in the world, he'd carry them all the way

I disagree. He faced equally as tough situation in Chelsea if not tougher. Also winning PL isn't as tough as people like to make it out to be. Leicester just won it last year with a very inexperienced squad under a coach who never was able to win the "easy" Serie A. There really isn't any real difference between the two leagues in terms of quality no matter what most want to believe even the UEFA coefficients show how similarly bad/good top teams from both countries have been in the last few years.

In a 3 man defense yes. Evra and Licht, even Alves played CB for us too, but in a different way to the classic CBs. But that's Conte for you, after stealing Mazzarris 352 hes now stealing Peps idea about using fullbacks as CBs. Such a copycat

About Barza, he was a starter for VW in the year they won BL in, then again a starter in most games the season after. Then the year after that he started 17 games before joining us in January. Yes he wasn't great there but check the defenders he played with - Madlung, Schäfer, Riether, Pekarik, Simunek - yeah thats right, you have no idea who either of those guys are. Before that he was at Palermo where he earned a spot on the WC winning Italy squad.

Bonucci was 23 when he joined us, 24 when Conte came here. Marchisio was a starter for years, not on 14/15 Matics level though, agree. Also, i wouldn't take much from the comments here. Even now you can see people bitch about half our squad, people were bitching about Pirlo even. What you should focus on is the level these players played on, because if you go by tuz comments youre gonna find some big exaggaration.

And lastly, we werent miserable for years, we finished 3rd and 2nd in Serie A before having two 7th place (the 2nd one was with a big injury crisis iirc) finishes after Nedved retired.

Abate was a starter for Italy who played EC final. He was never great but how many EPL fullbacks currently are? Zambrotta was still a very good fullback. Maybe Pato was done (cant remember when he broke down completely but he was among their top scorers the season before, along with Ibra and Robinho) but they had Cassano who was also a starter for Italy during that 2012 EC.

Baffling post, as is this notion of overstating the quality of that Milan. It was essentially a team that refused to get with the times, still relying on past it legends that got by on experience, and only of age top players being Ibra and Silva. Well coached but very flawed.

name me one team in EPL that comes close to a Silva-Nesta pairing. Camelnose also is at least 2 levels above any current EPL striker. if I had to pick an easier opponent in league between Guardiolas City or that Milan injury free I know which one I'd pick.

You are saying something different @Osman . Something i agree with.

1) The milan team was far better then most make out of it. When all fit it was a very solid and strong team thanks to a good coach managing to play it to its strenghts

2) It however, was horribly overaged and tremendously failed to reduce its age over the years leading with a load of borderline pensioners, that would all retire or vastly decline around the same time, creating insane problems and gaps to fill. Which kinda happened. All the experience left at the same time as the actual worldclass prime ibra and silva left.


I was not arguing that its a massive issue concerning their age. Just saying that squat was still very good. But a drama waiting to happen.
