I think its worth noting that there was an element of luck in Conte' 2011 team. The squad back then had no depth whatsoever but luckily we had no injuries and we played once a week.

Pirlo was the only regista on the team and had a terrible form and injury record behind him. If he had gotten injured we would have been fucked just like a marchisio injury destroys us now if not worse. I think if we had marchisio all season this season things would have been a lot better. Just to be clear I dont think Allegri can ever match Conte's 2011 run with or without injuries. I just wanted to point out that the squad that Conte got too had just 1 regista and the whole team would have been brainless without him. Conte in my opinion is clearly better at getting a squad with limited options to perform.

Conte can fix a mess, create a machine from scratch, but perhaps lacks that last little bit of experience/tactical nous to take it into the European elite... This will come with more experience and time.

Allegri has the tactical nous to take over a well-oiled machine and tweak it to perform even better... but he's absolutely clueless when the machine falls apart, or things get a little messy.

There is a learning curve in coaching like in any other job. Remember how ancellotti started and look at him now. You learn new techniques, see patterns that you didnt do before, experiment with new formations and new tactics. The 3-5-2 came out of Juve for example. He used to play a different formation before that.

You dont achieve what he achieved without a brain. If you can get Vucinic, Quags and Matri all to score double figures you need brains to figure out the right formation that plays to the squads' strengths without being as awful as we are now. Players like Pirlo and Bonnuci benefited from Conte's motivation no doubt about that but also from the formation he picked that played to their strengths and minimized their weaknesses.

Allegri has spent 3 months trying to figure out what formation fits the squad and still has not found it. Mind you, this is not a 7th place team, its an almost world class squad half of which were finalists last season.

Caceres at RB as soon as possible too. We need him and/or Licht back in the team as soon as humanly/safely as possible; those guys have the grinta and warrior mentality we're sorely missing with Vidal gone.. With those two out of the equasion the only guy who still fits the bill is Chiello, and he's seemingly losing his sense of good judgement on the pitch. As I read on here a day or two ago, he really has never seemed to be the same player who got injured in the 2012 Euro final; he just has never been the same since...

Very irresponsible of him to tell management he wants to quit at the end of the season because he doesn't feel motivated anymore.

Its very responsible of management on the other hand to tell a coach who just said he is burnt out to go think it over the summer and decide in pre-season if he still feels the same. Conte was irresponsible in saying he is burnt out and not continuing in the job when he didnt feel up for it. Management was responsible in convincing Conte to decide in pre-season. Makes sense.
