You REALLY think an italian coach and former player, choosing to accept the highest honour and position in his country's football is WRONG or hypocritical? I understand critique when it makes sense, but this makes none whatsoever.

Conte told them he was leaving at the end of the season and THEY told him to postpone that decision until after he returns from holiday and gets back to work hoping he would change his mind. Management are the ones that set the timing not him. Management was not shocked or surprised.

It's the management's fault as much as it's Conte's fault. He should have insisted on leaving in May if that's what he wanted, and they shouldn't have told him to continue till pre-sesason.
