Even though most people here who flame Conte are just trolling, I think a good section of Juventus fans are not trolling at all.
The amount of hate he is receiving and the ongoing witch-hunt is certainly not justified.
1) The man was a legendary player for Juve and even more so as a coach. He instilled the winning mentality in the squad that was lacking since the Ranieri days and won a lot of trophies with the club.
2) If I remember correctly, Nedved said that Conte told management he was going to leave because he is not motivated anymore and management then convinced to take his time off and see whether he is still unmotivated when the season started. His resignation thus was (if we will believe Nedved's story) not as sudden to the management as it is to the fans.
3) Even if his resignation came as a surprise to management, I would take an unmotivated coach's resignation who thinks he can't give his best anymore, any day of the week over a coach who stays on, drives the team to the ground, gets sacked and takes financial compensation. He saw that he can't take the team further ahead and quit. I respect that HE made that call and he wasn't sacked. A lot of coaches would see out their contracts and stay on payroll after getting sacked for their awful results.
4) We were not even harmed by his resignation. Sure, we could have been screwed have Allegri turned out to be incompetent, but what actually happened is that Allegri is proving perfectly capable of keeping this ship steady to the surprise of almost all of us.
5) We remember Lippi as our greatest or second-greatest coach ever despite him coaching a direct rival. Conte is coaching the national team. So its not even a european rival.
That is not to say that he didn't make any mistakes or that his handling of the media is not annoying. He was wrong about the potential of our squad. His 2012 season alone undermines his 2013 claims about the squad's potential. He didn't even have Tevez and llorente in 2012 and he reached the QF and exited only because of the tough draw. Allegri is showing this season that the squad could be a regular QF-SF as long as we dont draw a giant club very early on.
His complaints about not having enough time with national team players is also annoying as this is just the nature of the job he signed up for.
Him being wrong about our squad's potential and his whining about spending time with players is hardly a reason to go nuts at the guy that did so much good for the club. In any case, the hate started long before he made any comments about the national team or about Juve's current performances. These are reasons that came after he was hated already for leaving.
