Good point. He's still not as good a cap as the other options imo.

He would be an alright coach though. Defenders usually are.

Nesta could be good coach. He is very intelligent player and that is for me the most important quality for that job. Very charismatic also.

Meh, he's right. Nesta never gets the capt armband for a reason.
Nesta has never captained Milan because he said he didn't want to.

Think it was something to do with him being a Lazio fan and having captained Lazio, feeling it would be disrespectful to Lazio.

That's exactly the mentality we need. Not a fucking midtable-happy to get european places mentality.

He seems to mention Nani and Walcott a lot too.

Just read through the first 20 pages of this thread.

Besides the usual bullshit hysteria from "The Usual Suspects", the most LOL worthy moment was when Cronios said if Conte was a true Juventino he wouldnt have accepted this job. And then the funniest was when usually rational posters actually agreed with him

Ahh Juventuz.

The best part is that the reasoning behind that argument is nonsense. Why would that prove his love for the club?

Because if there were more experienced and better suitors to manage this club out of the crisis its been in for the past three years it would have been unethical for Conte to take the job unless he was 100% certain he was capable of steering us in the right direction. It seems logical to have doubted Conte considering he has no experience whatsoever at a big club prior to being at Juve but hey, everyone on this forum has perfect hindsight.

I find it funny that people actually thought we'd get Villas Boas or Van Gaal or even Ancelloti. Was never gonna happen.

Guys like Max Allegri had zero experience at a big club before he went to Milan. That "big club" excuse is the biggest load of wank man. Lippi won fuck all and his biggest club before us was Napoli. Turned out pretty well for us when he came here.

Another thing in Contes favor was universal praise from everyone from Moggi to heaps of ex Juve players etc. We never saw that seal of approval for any of our other previous coaches.

I still find the suggestion that he took this job out selfishness laughable and pretty disrespectul of a true Juve legend.

Its easier for Allegri and Lippi who already had good squads at their disposal. The context was completely different for Conte. This Juve had finished 7th twice in a row after testing out a number of managers without winning credentials. They had no winning experience at a high level so naturally the least risky move would have been to find a manager with experience at a high level like Van Gaal considering the opposite hadn't worked for us for three seasons. If not that, a manager like Villas Boas or Deschamps who might not have filled those criteria but at least had overwhelming success with their clubs in each countries top league. Conte managed Serie B teams (there's a big difference between a Serie B team and Lippi's Napoli) for a few years and even failed with Atalanta. It was impossible for any of us to know that he would do well here and skeptics were given every reason to doubt him. So I don't think that doubting Conte a few months ago is that laughable and I don't agree at all that experience is not a valuable asset for managers despite Conte's success so far.
