Maybe Conte wanted more Italians like Padoin and Peluso at Juve, and after Marotta decided to not fulfill his wishes, he quits and become Italian NT manager...

You might be onto something here Oggy. Conte liked those mediocre Italians, like Borrigol, Padoin, Peluso. Every transfer window Marotta had to bring in a new crop of these to keep our loyal coach satisfied. Remember the scene he made after we sold Matri and Giacherrini, addressing media on a verge of tears. You'd think that we sold Suarez by his reactions.

More like marotta offered more of the depth sh!t he's good at buying. Also this marotta guy seems to be in love with them payments in installments and he can do it only in italy, unless he bends over and lets the seller fvck him good and proper, like Real.

If I were him I would reject the job offer.
If he left Juve to achieve higher targets and improve his CV then he shouldnt have taken this job as its a tougher task to win with the NT than to win with Juve and make a proper CL run.
That is not to mention that NT coach performances tend to receive less credit than club performances. Prandelli took the Azzuri to a Euro final and we didnt see the big clubs of the world trying to talk him out of his contract (back then).

Also, I think coaching the Azzuri will diminish the strongest aspects of Conte's coaching methods.. namely motivation and attention to detail. He always struck me as a guy that builds a relationship with his players and motivates the hell of out of them while instructing each player on what to do to the finest detail. With the Azzuri, he'll meet with them every few months before each player goes back to play his role at his club. There is no day-to-day motivation and management.

Moreover, Conte's juve thrived best in the league and suffered the most in knockout games/cups. With the Azzuri its all cups. Finally, the Azzuri squad is arguably inferior to Juve's and at the very best has the same limitations that Juve's squad has.

If the Azzuri job will be good for Conte's CV, Conte will have to win a Euro or a WC.. otherwise it'll be bad for his resume.
If I were him, I'd coach a PSG or City like team first to cement my place amongst the top coaches of today before taking on the Azzurri challenge. That way if I dont win with the Azzuri, I'd go back to coaching top clubs a la Van Gaal as opposed to settling for the Galatasarays of the world like prandelli.

Prandelli's resume ultimately suffered from his role as Azzuri coach because his resume only has a couple of good seasons with fiorentina.

But we all know he will accept the offer because is not everyday that you are given the chance to coach Italy.

Still.. i think he will flop hard.

He wouldnt necessarily flop because he is still the best active Italian coach after Ancellotti and he is still very young. Coaching the national team is more likely to break your reputation than make it because a lot of luck is involved and you are limited by the work of how clubs develop your players for you. Prandelli is the best example for this. If he did well coaching another club after Juve he'd have easily gotten the chance to coach the NT at a later time when his reputation as a top coach could withstand a hit and remain good.

Conte will have to build an Azzuri without Pirlo, Buffon and barzagli. His seniors will be chiellini, De Rossi and Marchisio while the likes of insigne, veratti, Balo and immobile will be the supposed stars. Its a super tough job at a terrible time in his career.

Exctly because of this i think he will flop.
This italy team needs an experienced coach like Ancelotti. Needs serious thinkering because the project shown at the WC was simply pathetic.
All the things you said, coupled with his lack of coaching experience outside juve and his dismal cup records points me to think he will have a more than difficult spell.
