I am surprised that AC Milan aren't linked with Sheva. They are lacking goals right now, with Gilardino the only forward to score in Serie A so far. Pippo (too old to play every game) , Ronaldo (injury prone), Pato (would be foolish to rely on a young player), Gilardino (inconsistent).

With Sheva AC Milan might be able to finally challenge for the scudetto.

He is still non-EU and they can't buy him in January.
But wait until June and you'll see his name being linked to Milan again.

Shevchenko Set For American Adventure?

Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has reportedly made plans to join a Major League Soccer outfit - if he's forced out of Stamford Bridge

After a well-documented difficult first season in England, Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko appears to be faring little better in his second year at Stamford Bridge.

Although the Chelsea forward is keen to stick around and fight for his place in west London, reports in Tuesday's Daily Mirror claim that Shevchenko's Plan B is not Italy, rather America.

Big Money Flop

Having netted just 5 Premiership goals in 18 months, few can deny that the former AC Milan star has been an expensive flop at the Bridge.

Many believed that the Ukrainian international - thought to be earning £130,000 a week - would feature more prominently in Chelsea's plans following the departure of José Mourinho.

But new boss Avram Grant has also repeatedly opted to bench the club's £30.9m record signing, and as such has prompted the club to consider cutting Shevchenko from their squad to recoup some of their cash, even if it means they still make a huge loss.

January Move?

The striker has repeatedly been linked with a return to both Serie A and Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kyiv, and the player will be allowed to leave in January should a satisfactory offer be received and a suitable, more cost-effective replacement found.

One distinct possibility reported in Tuesday's paper is the USA. Having recently snapped by David Beckham, Major League Soccer has proved it has the finances to secure big money, big name individuals in the twilight years of their career, and since Shevchenko is married to an American model a move to the US could be just the ticket.

Reports suggest that - unlike Beckham - the Chelsea striker could be bound for the east coast, with the New York Redbulls and New England Revolution both said to be keen suitors.

Andriy Shevchenko's final Chelsea chance

Andriy Shevchenko will have one final opportunity to prove his worth at Chelsea before the club look to offload a player they paid £30.9 million for just 18 months ago.
The Ukrainian striker, 31, has not been able to force his way in to Avram Grant's rejuvenated side, who have now gone 14 games unbeaten in all competitions, and once more had to watch from the bench as Chelsea beat West Ham United 1-0 at the weekend.

Shevchenko grew frustrated at his frosty relationship with Jose Mourinho, who also used the striker sparingly in his time in charge, and had hoped that the Portuguese's departure and the appointment of Grant would lead to more playing time for him.

Grant has instead preferred both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou ahead of Shevchenko, with some success, and the Ukrainian privately admits he may have to look elsewhere for regular first team football.

However, both first choice strikers are set to be missing for anything up to five weeks during January and February on African Nations Cup duty with Ivory Coast.

And that may present Shevchenko with a final opportunity to convince both Grant and good friend Roman Abramovich that his is still worth the enormous fee paid for him in 2005.

"Everybody needs to respect Shevchenko," said Grant. "He is one of the best strikers in the history of football. He belongs to our team."

"At the moment he is not playing but that does not mean he will not in the future. Sometimes you feel one player is ready to play and another is not."

"When you come to a big club and you have so many big strikers, sometimes there are big names that don't play for a period of time."

"He is not depressed. I can only judge players by what I hear when they speak to me or what I see in training. he is happy in training and he is training very well."

Despite Grant's words of assurance it is expected that Chelsea will make a January transfer move for Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka, meaning Shevchenko would have fresh competition for the start he craves.

The Frenchman would be available for £10 million and his wages would be substantially less than that paid to the Ukrainian, one of the top earners at the club

Shevchenko has only started four games this season and the player has already been touted to his former club AC Milan. Though Chelsea are prepared to take a substantial loss on any transfer, the expected asking price of around £10 million has put off the Serie A side as well as their city rivals Inter and Juventus.

Dynamo Kiev would be interested in bringing Shevchenko back to the place where he first made his reputation but reports have suggested his American wife Kristen has told him that her preferred option would be the semi-retirement of Major League Soccer.

With New York Red Bulls and New England Revolution both in the market for a big name to rival David Beckham at LA Galaxy, Shevchenko would not be short of lucrative offers. Each team is allowed one player exempt from the league wide salary cap.

Shevchenko is still hopeful of turning around his career at Chelsea and seeing out the remainder of his contract and proving himself to the English public.

That appears increasingly unlikely unless he can take advantage of the African players' absence to stake a first-team claim.

"One of the reasons I have not rushed to make a decision on signing during the African Nations Cup is we have good strikers in Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro," said Grant.

"They are in the squad because they will be useful during that period - but not just then. I want him to be useful this month as well."

Sheva in old Milan form woulden't be so bad :). But we need midfielders and defenders more.

But we also need class players, i can't say no to Sheva. He would raise the team.

Sheva-Trez-Del piero Grande

If Chelsea would do a similar move as they did with Crespo, first loan deal then maby we buy him.

Shevchenko Set For Juventus?

Juventus are lining up a bid for unsettled Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, according to Tuttosport.

The Ukrainian star signed for the Blues last summer after a hugely successful seven-year spell with AC Milan.

However Shevchenko has badly failed to live up to the standard he set himself in Italy, and has been a pale shadow of the once great player.

He has scored just five league goals since arriving at the club, with only one of those coming this season.

Since Avram Grant took over as Chelsea manager, Shevchenko has barely featured, and many expect the 31-year-old to be transferred in January.

Tuttosport is claiming that Juventus want to take Sheva on a six-month loan deal in January, with the option of making the move permanent in the summer.

The Bianconeri still have a non-EU place available in their squad, and Chelsea would help pay the forward’s astronomical wages.

Shevchenko is still highly-rated in Italy and both Milan and Inter have also been linked with the player recently.

However Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani has now ruled his club out of the running by saying that their non-EU spot in the squad will be taken by Brazilian wonderkid Alexandre Pato.

“We cannot take him, as we only have one place for a non-EU player and that will go to Alexandre Pato in January,” he said.

“He is the one who wanted to leave and we didn’t sell him willingly. He knew what it was like here, but when you change clubs it is all starting from scratch. Transfers are always dangerous.”

I have huge respect for Shevchenko but this transfer is a pure marketing trick. We don't need him, we just wanna raise our profile by signing a world class player and sell some shirts.

Quick question:

How many non-EU spots a team can have ?
In Italy, as many as you want (look at Inter)
But you can buy only 1 non-EU in one season.
Actually, that's one non-EU from out of Italy. If you buy a non-EU player from an Italian team then he doesn't count as non-EU.
