He's probably thinking what some of us are already thinking. We are moving on to the next phase. Rebuilding. And it is certainly his right to want to leave, if that is the case. Take that money, invest in young players, and save a ton of money on salary.

I'm all in for a full rebuild, but that is what it HAS to be. A full rebuild.

Would love to know what he's done or said that's convinced Agnelli that he's ready. I'm hoping they know something we don't and it's just a matter of Agnelli take a chance. Although it's completely insane and I'm totally against Italian managers I don't think there could of been a more interesting appointment. Pirlo has a different kind of character and has an air of mystery. I just fucking hope it pays off.

If you see it as us playing the long game with this, then I think it will pay off. That is the only rationale that I can come up with, and quite honestly, I am totally cool with takinga step back to move 3 steps forward.

We took our chance, and it didn't work. It's time to look in the mirror and realize that with all the "name" players we have, we got run off the pitch by 2 of the youngest teams in recent memory in the CL.

The first time could have possibly been looked at as an anamoly. But not this time. I watched the replay of the match, and we are painfully slow. Tactics need to go out the window when your opposition consistently has a half step on his marker.

Yes to be frank I would like to see Buffon chiellini and maybe even cuadrado play the role of mentors from bench next season, and allow young talents to join the team and play games.

Buffon and Chiellini, yes. Cuadrado can still add something. His quickness hasn't left him yet.

We can't keep adding a player here and there and hoping that we catch lightning in a bottle for the Champions League. That already happened 2 years ago and it didn't work. We shot our load with CR7, and it didn't happen. Very well. You move on to the next phase.

Better to do it a year too early than a year too late, because history shows that you never fully recover if it is a year too late.


Which is why, to me, Paratici is VITAL in this regard. He needs to be left to do what he does best, and that is to get the best young talents out there.

For that to work, you need a coach willing to play young talent. The "old guard" cliché is synonymous with Juventus and I don't like it anymore.

There is good youngsters in Italy (Tonali, Zaniolo, Locatelli, Boka, etc) and hopefully Pirlo is willing to shy away from what we all know Italian coaches do.

It's time for Chiellini to take a backseat role as a sub. He can still add value and coaching from he sideline, etc and when called upon still serve a purpose. We haven't actually seen him play but I think its time to pass the baton. Kills me to say it.

His press conference will be the first time we have a good idea on what he wants to do. If he wants to attack, and press non-stop, then the young guys are in.

That’s not entirely accurate. He may have wanted a more progressive style of play but that doesn’t mean he wanted Sarri.

Fabio and Nedved attempted to follow that strategy and laid out an agenda which was flawed from the start by warring with Max. When reality set in and we learned that they created the divide and fired max who Agnelli was fond and bring (unviable) Sarri as the only available option then what other choice does he have?

The final decision may be his but not his first choice since he wasn’t presented any options by his subordinates.

Unless he already had a deal in place with his desired coach then perhaps he should have stuck with Allegri for another season or so.

Besides, if we couldn't get a Guardiola, Zidane or Klopp calibre coach then there are no suitable Italian alternatives. Then you start looking at up and coming European coaches, and the extra difficulties that brings with integration into calcio. We've already seen Roma fail numerous times with this approach, and they have half the winning pressure of Juve. When you see the squad that would be available to the coach this season then Sarri was certainly a gamble but also a safer choice to go with than many of the other options.

I'm interested in who we seriously had in mind instead of Sarri. It surely couldn't be Guardiola or bust, that is such poor planning.

The Pirlo thing is not without risk. Financially it's lower risk, but on the sporting side there is always the potential to not win that 10th scudetto. Would they stick with him? Pirlo seems like a fashionable gamble, but maybe in a year's time the choice of quality coaches will be better, and the club also have that in mind.

It's a nice idea starting with a popular young coach for a season that is going to be the start of the next cycle, but Pirlo needs the same points buffer that Sarri earned to take a bit of early pressure off.

From what I remember from a year ago, Max didn't want to stick around without a contract extension. And then the news about him wanting major revisions to the squad to sign that extension.

Yep, we already have a great young core in De Ligt, Demiral, Bentancur, Dybala and Kulusevski. Ronaldo and Szczesny aren’t young but they are two of our best players. Sandro is decent. So basically we just need a striker, a midfielder and a right back.

Agree. We'll lose some older deadwood for sure but there is no way it'll be a complete, challenging young squad in the space of a month.

Hold onto your hats - this also means that we won't be a CL favourite for next season.
