They bought CR7 as a guarantee of quick success on the new markets (mostly Asian), but apparently haven't done anything to capitalize on it in the long run (just pissed Korean fans off instead). Once Ronaldo is gone, there will be no reason for a casual football fan to prefer a plastic faceless JJ over Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City, etc. It's either they have some ingenious long-term strategy not visible from outside, or they make mostly random moves in pure pursuit of short- to mid-term financial results, and in the long run they went all in for this dubious Super League idea. The latter seems much more plausible at this point.
