I will never understand why he didn't at least TRY Giovinco on the right...considering how bad Marchionni was playing, did he think that Gio could not top that? If so then sadly this is one of the worst cases of not knowing your players potential that I have ever seen.
He did. In the first game against Bate. Nedved on the Left, Giovinco on the right. Did not work out at the start but who knows that might have happened with any formation we played.

honestly, I don;t like Seba on the right side...he looks so much more dangerous when he cuts in and faces the goal...also, it seems like it is a lot more natural for him that way

He brilliantly assisted both of our goals during that game how can that possibly be "did not work".
well i said didn't work at FIRST. and when you look at performance you dont simply look at one player. You look at the team. And in the Bate game with that formation the team did not play that great. Giovinco adapted to his role after the initial part of the game though.

anyway i also said our poor play against Bate could have happened with anyline up cuz the first half of that game we really had an off day and I think most of the fault lies with the CMs that day.

Yes I agree with him on the left, but like Inter using Santon on the left when he usually plays on the right, why not give Gio a few games on the right instead of the pathetic Marchionni?

@DelPieroForLife....thank you, 2 assists is more than Marchionni seems to be capable of

i thought that i erased him, thats why i wrote him down twice one after the other, lately i have some issues with the forums, with double posts and editing my posts, sorry for that...

I didnt intend to add Zebina or Andrade there, in case you wondering.

IMO, that's exactly what we need. If we are looking to continue playing two defensive/not solely attack minded mids and let the creativity come from the flanks, then we're already set except for two quality backups for Camo and Giovinco. Get rid of Salihamidzic and Marchionni, bring two of higher quality, like Schweinsteiger and Silva (just examples) and our midfield looks decent. Rebuilding the defense should be the big project for the summer mercato though.
we are already set except we have no quality fullbacks, and only one player on the flanks who can consistently offer decent service to the forwards, and he is always injured...Its true that Giovinco is getting more time on the pitch, he needs it, but he is by no means a first team starter in Ranieri's mind. So we have to look at Camo, Marchionni, Sali, Nedved, Molinaro, Grygera, Zebina...Also de ceglie, but he isn't fit yet, and I assume, as with our other young stars, he is far further down the pecking order than his talent deserves...I would play him every game over Molinaro. As I would play Giovinco every game over nedved on the left wing...But i am not coach.

So, looking for quality support from a half dead Camo, and the rest of the gang i mentioned above, when they are the players liked by Ranieri, is like expecting blood from a stone. Its simply not going to happen.

Rebuilding the defence should be our priority, but only as much as adding a much more vibrant, creative connection to the midfield. Relying on Marchionni, dead Camo, dying Nedved, Sali, and two fullbacks who find it hard enough to make a simple 3 metre pass in a straight line to a colleague, is only going to lead to failure.

We have class in attack. But the service to them needs to be improved, dramatically.

And our 4-4-2 is finished with, unless we massively reinvigorate ALL our flanks. the way it looks presently, only Giovinco is capable of staying fit and performing sterling service on the wings.

We have more issues than just our winger and full backs.

The reality is that we dont know whether ranieri will be our coach or not. We dont know what tactics or formation will be played nxt season as well. Talks of Silva, then Diego come up...i really dont think the clubs knows who or what they want.

I'm not expecting the club to sell 80% of their players (although one could argue they should), but their are many old players who shouldnt be there, many injury prone as well as average ones who should all be assessed.

    Time to rebuild.

    Retain:
Buffon, Manninger, Chiellini, Marchisio, Momo, Poulsen, Trez, Iaquinta, DP, de ceglie, amauri.
Lose the rest ( not including Ariuado or Daud or any of our youngsters in this Lose list)

Out of those to lose, Camo is the only one of real quality and his availability has become too lame to keep hold of him. Its better to sell him, even cheaply, in order to get another player into the first team squad, in his place, who can play for more than 20% of the season. The rest, including most definately, Tiago, Molinaro, Grygera, Zebina, Brazzo, Zanetti, Legro...are not worthy of the bianconeri jersey.
