Sean Payton Suspended for a Year.

Gregg Williams Suspended Indefinitely

Loss of 2 2nd round draft picks

GM Suspended for the first 8 weeks of the season.

Goodell brought a god damn Nuke to a Gunfight. Awesome.

Alex Smith has this to say:
That is some wrath of God action, right there! Wow... temporarily disemboweled. So Drew Brees isn't signed, and all of this is going on...

Tebow's not good enough for more than a 4th round draft anyways imo. Fair trade.
Oh, c'mon, that 46% completion rate is worth at least a 2nd. :shifty:

Honestly, I was expecting it to be an even worse return than a 4th. I guess those jersey sales make the difference. Good job by the Broncos there (except for the whole using a 1st round pick on him in the first place). Glad he's going to the Jets...

I have friends of mine texting me congratulating me on the niners re-signing Alex Smith. Really?

I got a few condolences when we missed Peyton.

Seriously though, about Brees: does all of this effect his stay in NO? They were already a good chunk apart in the $, weren't they?

Alex and our draft to the Saints for Brees :p

Where's Ditka when you need him.

They tendered him as an exclusive rights franchise player, meaning that no other team can even negotiate with him. He hsn't signed it yet, and doesn't plan on doing so.

Oh, they are so screwed

Oh hell yeah, they are. Roger Dodger be all up in they butt. Hard to re-sign your franchise player without a general manager!

An extra bonus? The Rams just lost their new defensive co-ordinator.

My best friend is actually arguing with me on my iphone about the merits of Alex Smith over Peyton Manning.

He's using the old "Look at what Harbaugh did with him in one year."

to which my response was. "My point is this. They were one game away from the Super Bowl with Smith in a brand new offense without a full training camp. Knowing this, the still went after Manning hard. What does that tell you about how they truly feel?"

Maybe he's just trying to pick your spirits up :p

We'll just have to wait and see what Alex will bring to the table. For me, we know he's got some pronounced limitations, but he's a pretty smart guy, so it's possible he can further minimize some of those negatives. Really, there aren't a lot of examples like him out there... former number 1 QB's who are basically a bust for 7 years, and then magically take a team to the conference finals. 7 different OC's in 7 years. It's almost a miracle he's still in the league.

Like Canardo said, his confidence could have also taken a hit.

Nope, the 9 played hard ball with him because they've capped his value at a pretty firm number. It sounds like they just left that same deal on the table and he eventually took it - I guess we'll see the details soon.

One thing I took away from this, is that they must be fairly confident in Kaepernick. I'm looking forward to pre-season, see how he can stretch defenses with those new vertical threats.

Whoops, I gotta run lads. Enjoy the fallout in New Orleans!

A few quick hits from me today:

1) WOW - Goddell layed down the law on the Saints and Williams at his new gig in STL. How does this affect Brees and his contract negotiations?

2) @ the Joooooooos
I love what Tim Tebow embodies but lets be frank, that franchise just gave Sanchez another free pass to fail and continue to get paid

Mike Wallace wants Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson money :howler:

Are you fucking kidding me?

What the hell is in the water in Pittsburgh, anyway? Maybe its best that I don't know.
