Neither do I, but I think he really likes that cap space in Denver. He can have a lot of influence on how that remaining 20M+ is spent, and I guess that could be pretty important to him.
Meanwhile, if the 49ers resign Smith at the 8 million per contract, that will leave them with 11 million in cap space to find themselves a RG (I'm thinking Eric Steinbach, myself. Always liked him.
