Time for a quick stroll down NFL Blvd. – Week 1:

- Let’s start with Dallas, they looked poor in the pre season and looked poor last night. Even though the Foreskins did everything they could to give them the game, they still won the battle of futility.

- The Rams (mainly Bradford) looked good. Bradford made some good throws and some bad decisions but they lost that game because of the coaches inability to manage the clock at the end of the game. They lost at least 15 seconds because they didn’t use 2 of their remaining timeouts. That loss falls on Spagnola and his staff, not Bradford and the players.

- Chris Johnson is a beast. Until he gets injured or a O-lineman goes down.

- GB looked decent, lets see how they take advantage of their division schedule.

- Denver lost a game that was theirs for the taking. Garrard looked good but it won’t last.

- The biggest game of the weekend was the Texans running a train on the Colts. Manning had a monster of a game with over 400yds and a few TD’s yet, they still lose. Colts are in trouble with bad D and no running game. Houston needs to stay focused to maintain the lead in the division.

- The Steelers won because Polamalu being in the game. Pitt went 4-1 with Troy last year and below .500 without him. He is the MVP of the league for his team. Peyton would be #1 but he doesn’t get injured so we will never know until it happens.

If Calvin Johnson played for the Patriots or the Colts and this was a Super Bowl game, that catch would have stood and the crowd would have went wild.

Stupid, stupid fucking league.

As crazy as the rule is, Andy, It is still a rule. Just like the ground can't cause a fumble unless the player hits the ground without being touched, then fumbles the ball.

What happened to Stafford, anyway?

It's a stupid rule that needs to be changed.

Stafford got hit and fell on his shoulder that he injured last season. Out for at least three weeks.

I don't understand the need for the rule. A catch is a catch even if you lose the ball after. Then it's a matter of whether it was caused by a player or the ground, whether it's a fumble or not.

Its an odd rule but I doubt it will be up for revision during the offseason until it happens to a team that matters to the NFL like the Steelers, Colts, Jets, Patriots or Cowboys

Steelers or Cowboys. If it happens to them it will be the end of the world, because they are God's Chosen teams.

I know where he went, I've just been fucking with you half of the day. I like him, I think he's really good, I just think there are some better...
Fucking guy. That's why I threw in the 'your obviously joking?' in the one post, but frankly, I wasn't sure you were fucking with me at all. Should have known better...:D

Still... Patty Willis is the man.

What a horrible game in Seattle yesterday. I can't even blame the defense for this. Not when Alex Smith is up to his usual antics out there. Totally overthrows Crabtree on that out pattern that led to the pick 6, throws a 90 mph fastball at crabtree when he's only 4 yards away that led to the other interception. Missing a wide open Moran Norris on 4th and goal, and once again, clock management seems to be a problem again this year.

But hey. They get a break this week. New Orleans at home on Monday Night. yay.

Hopefully they will draft high enough to select a real quarteback this year.
After a good 1Q, Smith was brutal (poor throws and decisions), but what was immeasurably frustrating were the cumulative team deficiencies... which were so fucking familiar.

-OL still can't give our shaky QB enough time, or open holes for Frankie (although this was kind of expected for a first game, with the rooks).

-Still have no pass rush (definitely missed Brooks).

-Secondary got torched (which has a lot to do with point 2 obviously).

-Failed to capitalize on chances in the RZ. Classic.

Definitely need a strong QB. Hopefully Alex rebounds in week 2... it'll help that Crab and VD have now actually played a live action game after missing the preseason. Hopefully. Also, I thought that Walker played well, and Morgan was solid... too bad he couldn't quite stay in bounds early. Our offense actually has a lot of nice pieces, but we're missing the most crucial piece right now.

Anyway, if Morgan scores there, and Alex doesn't overthrow that wide open GL 4th down play, this game would have been much different. The team really did look sharp early, and then just imploded.

The Niners fucking blow. So overhyped just like the Cards were for the past 4 years. Here's an idea, get a real QB and a real OC to coach that offense. The Niners defense was overrated coming into this season listed higher than the Jets because they play in a weak division where 4 of their games came against the Rams and Seahawks last year.

Singletary is a good coach but there are many missing pieces to that squad. ESPN and other media types need to get off their nuts.
49ers might be a little overhyped by the media, but you'll see a better team going forward. As Sergio said, next week is a ridiculously tough game against the champs, and then they play 2 more on the road... but after that, their schedule gets pretty easy. I still think this is a playoff team.

Agree about the missing pieces, the D is good - but not yahoo fantasy #1 if that's what you're referencing. For now, I disagree about changing the OC. They need to give Jimmy a little more time (our OC). Part of our problems stem from changing the OC 5 years in a row.

Coach Sing is great, and he'll turn this around.
