Yeah he did well for Juventus in 2008. Since then, he's been awful. He's on a 2 year goalless streak for us. Amauri is a small club player and shouldn't be getting paid anything close to 4M a season, he should play for Parma and make a third of that.

Whereas Toni comes on the field and actually netted a couple goals this season.

Toni > Amauri, all the way for me.

Amauri should just retire.
Exactly.

We cant change that 4m a season figure this season, so he should just be looked at primarily at his attributes. To be fair, we are a mid table team, we have ended up 7th twice. This is the ideal place for Amauri to shine.
Mid-table teams are too good for Amauri too. :D

He's on a two year goal-less streak for us. How interrupted and poorly managed has Juventus been the past two years and how many players have flopped here? Send him to another club for half a season and he scores 9 goals. Hmm funny.
If he can only score on other teams but not for us, what's the point in having him here?

Toni made more of an impact in half of a season, than Amauri has for a 2 years now.

He obviously can't handle the pressure at a club like Juventus so he should go play for a club like Parma.

Palermo was a mid table team when we bought him :p I just think the whole long ball scenarios and krasic attracted to the corner flag never did justice to any of our strikers, most especially this man. His attitude was definetly awful, a wholeseome lazy approach, no desire etc. With conte's wingers and a right mentality we might replicate something like he had at parma.

Really this debate is useless so I don't want to work up anyone because its innevitible that Amauri will be staying. Thankfully Marotta purchased Vucinic, Quagliarella and Matri so hopefully we'll never have to see Amauri touch the pitch as long as these guys stays fit and healthy.

Our team is really not similar at all to last seasons. Luca Toni scored 2 goals last season what kind of contribution do you call that? Besides he's 34 years old now.

Its not a debate just wishful thinking, but theres hope thats the difference and its possible. I dont really care who starts for us as long as they do the job.

 2 goals in 14 apps. He's a beast! Amauri scored that many in AC Milan game back in 2008.
I don't care about 2008. Sissoko also played well in 2008, did you want to keep him too?

I care about now, the present, where he can't net a goal to save his life.

What about Del Piero? I recall him not scoring a single goal from open play for a whole season after he recovered from his horrific injury but we put faith in him and it paid off. And yes, I would have kept Sissoko, as he is miles ahead of Pazienza. At least as a sub.

Near 3 years ago?

Amauri was a ghost when he played for us constantly falling to the ground and complaining to the referee. For such a big man there was times he added no presence and it was like we were playing with 10 men and he was extemely easy to mark even for the average Serie A Defender.

Toni on the other hand is also very limited but throws himself about being a nusiance, drawing fouls and has a better eye for goal than Amauri.

And yes Toni has contributed more in 5 months than Amauri has in 2 years.

Del piero is a legend, and you cant compare his situasion with anyone. Sissoko was good when he first came, but the last couple of years he was always horrible. He has some of the worst passing skills i have seen from a mid.
Sissoko is never miles ahead of piazenza as off 2011. And what does it mean that hes miles ahead of p. , atleast as a sub? either hes better or he is not.

What did I just say? What the hell did I just say? I said confidence is a massive contributing factor to form so can you really find any reason other than lack of confidence and injury why Amauri played incredibly at Palermo, well for us for half a season and well for Parma for half a season and all of the sudden played so poorly between the beginning of winter 2009 and his loan during winter last season? Did he just fall over in the tub one day and not realise how to play football? You play in an interrupted squad and your form becomes interrupted. Strikers make good scapegoats because the buck stops at them, they need to score the goals, but there have been players here making an equally poor contribution to the club that are still lurking in the locker room who have half the talent and ability Amauri has shown over the years and even recently for Parma. Its those players that contribute to the goals just as much as any striker. If the whole team isn't ticking, then why should the forwards?
