I wonder how you know this

Why is everyone fixated on his goal scoring record. We can win Serie A with Morata scoring 0 goals but our chances to win CL drop from 30% to 20% without Morata in the team (random numbers). What he brings to the team in CL is much more worth than scoring 15-20 goals in the league purely money wise. + the guy is very marketable, he was on the PES cover last year. Easily justified adding another 35M on top of the 20M we already paid if it comes down to that
The problem is this guy wants to be a starter here.and we cant afford to watch his weak in and weak out frustrating performance where he cant score a goal in 4 months.we cant just splash 65 mln for a guy to perform once in a year.even he let us down in away game against sevila where he wasn't able to score a tap in and as a result we faced bayern in the next round.

with 65 mln we should go for someone who is able to perform in both CL and League constantly.

He wants to be a starter? Has he said this already?

Those really are some random numbers :p He has been great for us in the CL but I don't see him leaving having much impact on our chances of winning the competition next year.

Agree. Its pretty ridiculous to put it that way.He is our CL weapon but it doesn't necessarily have to mean other players or our new signings wont step up.

Lock this thread, please. The level of retardation is beyond any acceptable limit. If we pay 35m to Real Madrid to keep him, that makes him worth 65m. Even if he lets the entire team and fanbase gangbang him, he won't be worth 65m.

He's not even a starter here and for a good reason.
Fan of this guy?

He is soon going to be 24 years old.he is not young any more.strikers like Cavani and Suarez at this age were scoring +30 for their teams.

His goal scoring record doesn't justify his price tag , and at this rate i don't expect him to score +20 next season for us either.
Well said. +rep

“And what I want is to play and feel important. Next year I’ll play on the team that is more likely to give me that [playing time].”
play and feel important =/= be a starter. He plays here and is important for us

He scored 12 this season in all competitions in 47 games. Not impressive at all.

He has 12 goals 12 assists in 2300 minutes. Thats a goal/assist every 95 minutes despite having a 4 month period without a goal. Very impressive

We lose a devastating weapon off the bench (i guess Mandzu-Dybi will be our preffered duo next season) on the counter. Very underrated aspect especially vs top teams. Berardi helps but hes not on the level of Morata in that aspect

Almost every player has a low from time to time in his career. Morata just happend to have a low last season. In my opinion he pulled through. It'd be stupid to let him leave now, if alternatives wouldn't cost far less.

Considering he's still young and cost us only 20m, his stats are fine, add to that the fact that he shows up in big games, be it purely by luck or talent.

So losing Morata would be a slight sting, but he is not irreplaceable like Dybala, Bonucci, Buffon, or Pogba

55m of an investment in a 22 yo striker, that has proven to be important for our CL ambitions and has been scoring in some of the biggest games of the past two years, seems reasonable. More so considering situation on the market. The guy equalled Del Piero's record when it comes to consecutive CL goals, FFS. There's another benefit, he is extremely popular worldwide and players like him can help us to improve our apeal further. The potential income from jersey sales and marketing will offset those 55m anyway.

I find it laughable that people want to sign Jesus for high fee, while they've never watched the guy, but additional 30-35m for Morata is expensive. Morata played 2381 minutes and had 14 goals and 9 assists; 103 minute per g/a.
This.

Fuck Jesus, man.

Morata was having personal issues in the first months of the campaign because his longtime bitch/GF dumped him and on top of that he found the competition of a seasoned veteran in Mandz maybe in the worst moment.
He was accustomed of having Llorente around too, who helped him acclimate. Losing his pal, losing his girl, the team in total shambles after losing 3 pillars, Pogba in shid form and having to dug it out with Mandz was not easy for him.

This is a situation that will most likely not happen again. After the winter break, he came on firing on all cyllinders and when he was not scoring, was assisting or simply having good cameos everytime he was called. He was in form and it seems he was mentally better with his new girlfriend around.

Next year, it seems that no matter what happens, we will stack the midfield with technical players who will help the built up and provide the forwards with plenty of chances from every direction.

Theres no way Morata will repeat that slump. He seems to be more mature now and will fuck everyone´s asses next season. Mark my words.
