If we have ambitions then we shouldn't be selling our best players and talents. And even if we do for investment purposes, what's to say it will be invested properly? Seems to me we look for rejects at other clubs or deals that no other big club is interested in. So in short, your post is definitely very cheery and hopeychangy.
If we lose him to the buyback, i'll be pissed as I love this player, but we'll replace him. Who knows if the replacement will work out, but hopefully next time, with increased revenue and having made an extra 10-15mil we can afford a 30-40 or even 50 mil young striker. And yes, there is a risk in that, but hopefully we invest wisely.
Of course we look for rejects and deals. Hence the reason we got Morata, Cuadrado, Pogba, Tevez, etc. But we also get our fair share of in demand players, like Vidal, Pereyra, Alex Sandro. Do you not get that we're searching for such deals because we're trying to spend wisely and with some thriftiness in order to not spend ourselves in to FFP trouble or bankruptcy. We're trying to be a break even operation long-term, without a sugar daddy owner. And so we aren't going crazy spending each year. As we do better and better, and grow our revenue, we'll continue to invest more and more in the transfer market and in developing a better and better youth academy.
So far, our strategy is clearly working as we have gone from two 7th place finishes to 4 straight scudetti, a CL QF, and a CL final. Yeah. I'd say we're on the right path. And deals like Morata, and opportunism with good deals, and other club's rejects who we see good potential in will help us continue on this path very well. Eventually we will get past having to depend on such deals if we keep growing.
Nothing I have said here is unreasonable. It's clearly the club's strategy, and it's clearly working right now. Who the fuck knows if it will continue working. You can be as negative about as you want, but that doesn't mean you're right. And me choosing to hope for the better outcome and have optimism doesn't mean I'm right. I said we had a shit mercato. We did. But hopefully in the end the transition will pay dividends, as will these kind of deals.
