Apart from the Marotta apologists we all knew that we were pawned in that deal, since the day it happened.
Our best chance was that Moratas hype would fade out a bit and RM would forget him.
Now this hope is oficcially vanished. So we have actually replaced Tevez, Llorente and Morata with Dybala, Mandzukic and Zaza and somehow we only took 10~15+0+10 and gave 35~40+18~20+18,
So we roughly payed 50mil for the downgrade...

The panic here

Between Morata, Coman and Zaza the insanity will be a spectacle to watch here.

People have this strange idea that if we lose this or that player we'll be mediocre forever. We'll never get an adequate replacement or some other such nonsense.

While I must confess to finding the COman deal somewhat baffling and pointless especially considering 4-3-3 seems a viable formation for Allegri... The Morata deal was a very good deal to make. We wouldn't have got him without the buyback.

And for people saying it makes us a small club... Nope. It means we're a club with ambitions to get bigger and bigger. And buyback type deals help us grow to the point we won't need to make them anymore in the future. We buy Morata for 20 mil and he plays a huge role in getting us to a CL final, and who knows this season, and then Madrid takes up their buyback, now we have 30 mil to spend on our next striker. Or more, as our revenue grows. Such deals are low cost, guaranteed revenue deals, and they help us continue to grow our revenue and get back towards the top clubs in the world.

Of course, I'll be pissed if Real does buy him back, because I love this player, but we'll move on, we'll find a replacement, our revenue will continue to grow, and we'll continue to do well. That much seems obvious.

Morata cost €20m, not €10m.

We're talking big money territory here though I mean, Aguero will cost insane money.
Real in the last 7-8 yrs have only focused on getting young 23-24 yr old superstars.
If they are to target their next galactico move, I'd bet my money on Hazard than Aguero who has persistent injury problems.

If we have ambitions then we shouldn't be selling our best players and talents. And even if we do for investment purposes, what's to say it will be invested properly? Seems to me we look for rejects at other clubs or deals that no other big club is interested in. So in short, your post is definitely very cheery and hopeychangy.

I never liked the deal from the start. If he was a success Madrid would always want him back.

We can't afford to lose him he is irreplaceable. For us to get a striker with the same talent as him will cost 50 million.

What? No, he isn't.

The second part I agree, well, kind of. There are plenty better strikers around but they're all older and will cost close to what you mentioned.

Although who's to say we can't find another promising youngster? Atlético paid about the same for Vietto.

We would need to be very lucky to find a other young talent like him. Not only does Morata have the talent but he has consistently performed in crucial CL games against the best teams at a very young age.

It's hard to find someone with a good attitude like him and he sacrificed himself for the team last night playing out on the wing and still was crucial for us.
