Yep, like the guy but he is nothing but a luxury at the moment
good player but too expensive and offer too little in terms of goals or assist.
Even on his best seasons under us because he hasn't been better at Real or Chelsea

We don't need strikers we need a top midfielder and left-right backs Y_Y
That's why I cringe whenever I read we want Morata or Chiesa for a lot of money.
We simply don't need unless we sell more than Mandzukic this summer in the attack department.

If we stick with those we have + get Pjaca back that will be ok!
Unless we pull a trade Higuain Out Lewandoski IN.

Anyway

Pjaca/Costa - Higuain/Dybala - Bernardeschi/Cuadrado

why should we get Chiesa or Morata?

We will play 3-5-2,
Wich Costa and Cuad as wingbacks :D!

Morata - Dybala - Costa would be lethal on the counter and Morata would adequately replace Mandzukic’s aerial threat from Costa’s crosses.
I wonder now, has Morata ever played on the right? I believe 10 of Costa's 13 assists (transfermarkt) came from playing on the left where he can cross with his strong foot.

Why are we even entertaining this idea of Morata playing wide? It’s not like he hasn’t played on the flanks for us before and failed to impress at every chance. Oh wait, he did!

tuz members and their short memories.

Even at CF he’s not “next level” material. I doubt he’ll reach anywhere close to the numbers Piggy had on his first season here.

The kid’s got an awesome personality and he clearly love us but his second season here was ok at best and so was his time at Chelsea. I really don’t “feel” this signing. I’d understand going back to your ex if she was a beast in bed but this isn’t it :klin:

Why the f would we get a speedy CF, with good aerial skills, for then deploying him on a wing??? When we already got superb wingers, but no one to cross to in center.. It does sounds like something Allegri would fancy though..

To me this deal makes a lot of sense if we decide to part with Higuain for a decent sum. I doubt it though. Mandzukic more likely to leave, and Higuains 100m to be worth 10m next season.

Maybe because he is also not reliable as lone CF either??

Much as I love the dude I have said this many times before, I think Morata has a lot of abilities but i really struggle to see how those abilities combine into one particular role. I really think the best role he played for us may have been SS but obviously that won't be happening.

If he could improve the consistency of his finishing then he would be a CF. He may score a beautiful curler from the corner of the box once in a while but the dude chokes the simpler chances a top striker HAS to be scoring on too regular a basis. He is ABSOLUTELY a downgrade from (even the physically degraded) Golzalo we have seen this season

I would rather Morata play wide than be expected to be the main source of our goals. Additionally, like I said above, the wide role he would play under Allegri these days is a bit different than his past here. He is new Manbro, not as physically dominant but with much better feet and the ability to actually take on his man.

Tbh I wouldn't sign him at all unless it is a really good deal for us.

TLDR Iggy is still better finisher, Alvaro might suit us better.

Higuain is a better scorer atm, but he became somehow limited. Napoli Iggy was able to run at the defenders, finish crosses, dribble, etc. Nowadays Gonzalo is a pure goal-scoring machine. When he faces opponents goal, and you give him the ball - he is going to put it into the net more often than not. His positioning is amazing, but he can't pick up the ball and just push it forward, he rarely finishes crosses, he lost his speed.

But there is no vertical depth in our attack now. Both Gonzalo and Paulo operate in same part of the field, and it's easy for opponents just clutter the lane and make for any minor positioning errors they make. While someone like Alvaro forces defense to respect his speed, ability to beat opponent one on one and to finish the cross.

I doubt Piggy will reach anywhere close to the numbers he had in his first season as well, so why bring it up?

People still don’t realise or appreciate that.

Or they will, when it’s too late, we sell him, and struggle to find a striker as prolific as him again.
I have to agree with you here, tho i'm pretty sure Morata's arrival is more like Mandzu's replacement than anything else, even as frustrating as Higuain might've been at times we should still absolutely keep hold of him for at least another year, precisely due to the reasons you enlisted above.

im gonna say it again. Morata had a terrible season, yet he scored only 8 less goals in 1000+ less minutes than Higgy
Any sane person would welcome him back, just that atm i think he is definitely better suited as vice-ST and primarily LW/LF rather than Pipita's straight ST replacement tbf.

I'd like him + Cavani/Benzema/Dzeko (can't think of another top CF that would be available), but considering he's gonna be on 7M wages probably, I don't see it happening. Maybe him + a tier 2 targetman for rotation
