Alex in form is a good player.. but he haven´t been in form for a looong time. He wouldn´t put Bonucci on the bench. NO to Alex, what we need is a young player who is calm with the ball and has potenial to be a world class defender, Hummels for example.

Alex is going to be a Luca Toni, slow fart with high wages and will be useful for one season only. We should find some better option.

Do you know how old Cannavaro was when he won the ballon d'or?
Game, set, match.

If we lost a CB or two through injury/suspensions, who do we play? Sorensen is the only bloke other than the starting 3 who is capable, but he's still very young and inexperienced.

Licht + Barza + Alex + Chiellini starting is an awesome backline, with Bonny and DC on the bench.

Alex is injury-prone as well, isn't he.

that's the only issue IMO.
Yup. Age isn't an issue at all here. The injury proneness is.

Anyway, this belongs here:

Alex won't play for Chelsea anymore. He was told this by Villas Boas yesterday, after the disappointing draw against Fulham. No matter how many injured or suspended defenders the Blues have, the Brazilian is practically sold. But to whom?
Anelka already informed Chelsea about his destination (China, Shanghai), in Alex's case his future club is a mystery.
"We already accepted an offer presented to us by his agent" - said the Portuguese coach. Which team made the offer? It's not known yet.
Many Juve fans hope that it's the Old Lady who made the offer since the team made many approaches some months ago. And it could really be the case. Marotta never denied that he'll strengthen the defense and Alex's name is one of the finest on the current market. Afterall, the player himself expressed his appreciation for Juve's interest and showed willingness for a potential transfer to Juve in the summer. The deal failed because the two clubs couldn't find an agreement about the mode of the transfer (loan or permanent). Chelsea can not require the same figures anymore. It's probable that it's Juve who reached the agreement with Chelsea. It should also be mentioned that Alex is not necessarily an alternative to Martin Caceres, who will be brought to play on the sides.
