I wouldn't sign Alex as well as Caceres.

I'd take Caceres on loan, as all purpose defensive backup, and then see what's available in the summer.

Alex isn't that good that Juve should dive in and possibly block themselves from making a really good signing at CB in the summer.

Sign Caceres to finish season as backup & LB. Keep him as squad player that can play in multiple roles and sign Hummels

Licht-Hummels-Chiellini-?
(Sorensen/Caceres-Barzagli/Caceres-Bonucci-DC)

Why would you want Chiellini at left back? Our left side sucks going forward. A real left back would change that just like Lichtsteiner made the difference to our right side.

I like how Chiellini plays there.

Stays nice and narrow, sometimes even getting into a DM type position.

With an attacking fullback on one side, I like a defensive one on the other to make sure that the CBs don't get left too exposed.

Think it's even more important to have that narrow fullback when you are playing Pirlo instead of a proper DM in front of the defence.

I don't see how a defensive full back on one side allows the other full back freedom to attack. We need to diversify our attack as much as possible especially considering the difficulty we have breaking down tough defenses. Its been forgotten over the past few months how good a center back Chiellini actually is. If Juve are striving to have the best team possible it would be wise not to waste him and also find a left back capable in both attack and defense and that is not an impossible task as its been made out to be.

There are many reasons that we wont sign Alex:

-Too good for Marotta to sign
-He will demand a salary we are not willing to pay to a non Italian spectator maker/jersey seller.
-We are so cheap when it comes to defense, thats why are taking Caceres ... ... ... on loan...
-He is not Italian.
-He is not even half Italian like Amauri.
-He is not even proven in Italy for Marotta's shake.
-The DP fans will have an issue with a new ALEX
-He could replace Bonucci and Barzagli and with Licht on the right and the possibility of Caceres on the left, our defense would be from 4/5 Italian to 2/5 Italian, we CANNOT allow that in our Ital-Juve, hell will freeze before we fix our defense.
-And dont forget, as always, we must spend the majority of our transfer budget on new CMs and SSs, this is a tradition we respect since serie B and as long as AA draws breath, we will keep doing that...

It's not about allowing Lichtsteiner the freedom to attack.

Even when defending, Lichtsteiner will naturally hold a relatively wide position.

If you have two fullbacks inclined to hold wide positions, that leaves quite a large space for the CBs to cover and with the defensive line stretched, it would be easier for the opponents to thread balls into the spaces between defenders.

Having one fullback who naturally holds narrow just gives a nice balance to the backline.

Of course, if Juve were to suddenly sign an amazingly good player to play CB with Chiellini, leaving the CBs with quite a lot of space to cover wouldn't be as big a problem.

Why is alex too good for Marotta? He doesn't start at Chelsea, he isn't their 3rd choice CB, they even prefer a crippled person (Hutchinson) in their defence instead of alex.
