Sell Matri for €15 mill, buy Pazzini and Jovetic.
Thats could be finincially achievable, but very very unwise!

Do we need a SS upgrade to Vucinic or Giovinco, more than we need to Matri or Quaq in a finisher role??
Where should our greatest investment should go? Which is our weakest link?

Giovinco as a SS, can offer more, than Matri as a finisher.
Its always wiser to upgrade the weakest link, in order to become as much better as possible.
Invest the 30-35mil on Cavani and the 15-20mil on the SS would be wiser.

But the best case scenario would be to sell both Matri and Giovinco, since we dont believe at them, as starters and buy Cavani and Jovetic!:tuttosport:

The ironic thing, Jovetic scored more than any of our other forwards last year and was injured half the season :D

I think his goalscoring abilities are underrated.
Giovinco! :D

but yeah, I think he can pretty much have a Messi-esq kind of role and evolution (not quality wise) in order to become a main striker for a big team.

It's about market opportunities, the likely hood of Jovetic being available with non foreign competition after this season is slim.
I agree! Man City, Chelsea, Real, Barca... don't really need a striker so now is our chance to act cuz you know they outbid us everytime
and still City may sign RVP so this is not fullproof
but next year it may be another ballgame
who is to say?

When will the right player become available, though? There are no guarantees that it will happen next summer either and if it doesn't, we might be left without that "right player" AND without Jovetic.

It's hard to discuss this without having an idea about our finances and our budget for next year. If we do have some 40-50m eur for next summer, then there is no need to save money this summer. Our team is complete and we will only need a CF. The way I see it, if we can't get Cavani and the likes now, better buy Jovetic. That's not something that will disadvantage us in the scudetto race, while in Europe a Juve with Matri but without Jovetic, won't be any more dangerous than a Juve with Jovetic and without Matri. We can have the Jojo-Mirko partnership and next summer we can look for a replacement for the 30 year old Vucinic.
In short term I don't see negative consequences, but in long term I see lots of positives.
I didn't really believe my own post. :D

Was just playing devil's advocate to see what response it would bring.

Let's say we sell Matri for €12M to FC Whatever, and then we'll get Jovetic for €30M. Who do you think we should go for? Pazzini? Destro? Give me a break.
So let's keep Matri and not get anyone then. Purrfect plan  :howler:

Matri is a dime a dozen striker. There are plenty of players like him out there. We can go for Berbatov/Pazzini or even Destro this year, and acquire that elusive CF next season. (Higuain, Cavani, and even Falcao might be available for less next year :boh:)

Jovetic is a once in a decade type player. Matris exist everywhere every single season.

We aren't going to get Cavani, Higuain, or Falcao this season.

Let's wait for one more year, instead of splashing money on Van Persie and being stuck with a guy who has no resale value in 3 years, and wages double (if not more) those demanded by Jovetic.

I'd kinda like to win CL though. Jovetic will probably still be there next year if we don't buy him.

But if we do sell Matri directly to buy Jovetic I wouldn't mind. I just think RvP should be of higher priority.

That's where you are mistaken. Those oil rich fuckers like changing players like women change clothes. Hence, this is the best time to acquire Jovetic. We aren't likely to win the CL (given our history, past performances, quality of competition) this year anyway.

If we can make an impression and perform well this year, other players will be attracted to the Juventus brand and style of football come next summer ;)

Since when the resale value has become such a big factor for Juventus to focus on when dealing for one or two upgrades.. we're not freakin Porto FFS :D
were you this cautios when we signed a 29 yo Nedved? and it's not like we'll have to pay up anything close to what we paid back then... We sold Zidane for a record breaking fee but that never was Juve's way of runing the organization ( infact it only happend once atleast during the time I've followed this club, every other great player got to play for us till the very end)

When you decide to invest in a RvP caliber player, you don't think about the resale value, but the revenue they'd generate by playing for your club and chances of advancing in CL which bring in enough money to make the whole move well worth it.

Why shall we sell our only true striker to get a very good SS, which right now we have a lot of? I am a huge fan of Jovetic, but creating goal scoring opportunities has not been our problem last season. Concluding them was. Getting Jovetic, selling Matri and failing to get a big name in the striker department would just be upgrading our already decent SS line up and weaking our ST one.

I just think RvP should be of higher priority.

True. But I still want Jovetic :D

The smarter thing to do would be looking to offload Vucinic, but there's just no way we're going to do that after 1 fairly decent season. Or Quag, but he won't get us any real money, so I guess that rules him out as well. Gio is not an option, I assume.

That really only leaves Matri. Which makes me think we might be looking to play without a true CF a lot of the time. Could be interesting.
