Those 10 goals were enough to make him our biggest scoarer though.
Jovetic would definitly have a bigger impact, as Vucinic had bigger impact than Matri, however he did not score those extra goals though...
Jovetic could easily become our best player, the best assistman and our greatest threat, but only at the expense of our other option and without improving Aquaman's finishing skills though, we will be still creating many chances and suffer at finishing...

Though to be fair, i m convinced that even half crippled, without any kind of opposition, that will not stop us from dominating serie A again.
We can win even with that handicap, only in Europe and in critical games, a real upgrade will really show its worth.
But imo it is needed for our efforts of improving our team, consolidate our superiority and return in Europe.

I de pick Jovetic over Matri too, but not Jovetic over the acquisition of a top finisher though...
If we secure that top finisher, i would gladly upgrade Matri with Jovetic!
let's assume we play 3-5-2 again and we have Marchisio and Vidal as cm going forward like they did all season long, as forwards we have Gio or Vuc.
who do you want besides them?
last season Vuc. or now Gio will go wide everytime a midfielder comes from deep so who would you want?
my first choice would be Cavani then Suarez, RVP, Jojo
the first two seem out of reach and RVP is to old?, wages too high? or injury prone?
that leaves Jojo as our man
only if we decide to play 4-3-3, a cf is a must

IMO, in our 3-5-2/3-4-3 hybrid we must use a CF, (finisher) a SS (Vucinic) and two wingers ( one able to play as second SS like Giovinco/Giacche left, and one able to defend, like Isla/Pepe right).

In 3-4-3 one CF and two SSs
At any case, the CF is mandatory and we also need an adept sub for him, to last for all the season and cover/rest him.
Matri or Quaq may have that role as his sub.

For the SSs, in the case of the trident, we need at least 2 starters (Vucinic, Giovinco?) and 2 subs (Pepe, Giacche)

IMO, our team is almost complete, but we have 2 forwards for the CF role, who are not quite meant for that job, so it is mandatory to get the propel tool for this job. This is our main priority And should absorve the greatest part of our remaining budget!

If we sell Matri and get yet another SS,like Jovetic or Destro, we will create unbalancies, one of Giovinco or Vucinic would become subs, (imo we are practically cancelling Giovinco's hopes to become our starter, so we should better offload him instead) and we lose one of our two CF options (even half CFs options).
And we will be forced to buy yet another CF, at least for cover, even if we promote Quaq as the starter CF.

Now if we manage to sell Matri for a sum that would fund the biggest part of the new acquisition, without compromising the effort for the big CF hunt, then its marginally ok.
But i still see that the natural thing to do is to fund the CF acquisition from one of the two CF sales (Matri or Quaq)
and the SS upgrade to one of the SS we want to upgrade (Vucinic or Giovinco)

Why not just stick with what Juve have rather than signing a player like Jovetic who isn't really what they need?

Save cash and wait for the right player to become available.
When will the right player become available, though? There are no guarantees that it will happen next summer either and if it doesn't, we might be left without that "right player" AND without Jovetic.

It's hard to discuss this without having an idea about our finances and our budget for next year. If we do have some 40-50m eur for next summer, then there is no need to save money this summer. Our team is complete and we will only need a CF. The way I see it, if we can't get Cavani and the likes now, better buy Jovetic. That's not something that will disadvantage us in the scudetto race, while in Europe a Juve with Matri but without Jovetic, won't be any more dangerous than a Juve with Jovetic and without Matri. We can have the Jojo-Mirko partnership and next summer we can look for a replacement for the 30 year old Vucinic.
In short term I don't see negative consequences, but in long term I see lots of positives.

This.

Can you copy and paste this into Jovetic's thread? And look at my formations in the wishlist? :D

It's about market opportunities, the likely hood of Jovetic being available with non foreign competition after this season is slim.
That's my point. If the financial sacrifice to buy Jovetic won't reflect negatively on our budget next year, then it's a no brainer to get him now. The question is if we will have those 40-50m eur again next summer. I guess we will. For years now, even without CL we were spending that much or more. With a complete team, we can go big on one player next summer.
That's only in case we stand no chance to get that great CF this summer, of course.

The ironic thing, Jovetic scored more than any of our other forwards last year and was injured half the season :D

I think his goalscoring abilities are underrated.
