Does anyone believe we bought an unknown Danish defender for €20 000 to makes him a starter at one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Sørensen was brough in for one thing: Profit.
same goes for pogba

Am I the only one who's more interested in Gilardino here? Good reserve, knows how to score, grew up huge Juve fan and it's one of those signings that was always meant to be :touched:

Trying to make some logic into the Diamanti signing is good and all but Diamanti was never even close to Giovinco's performances from last year with Parma. Not even this year with all the shit Giovinco has gotten has he had a better season. Diamanti produced 8 goals and 8 assists and Giovinco produced 11 goals and 6 assists.

Diamanti is also older than Giovinco, Vucinic and Giaccherini. There is really no need for him or to justify the signing.
That's not true. You're underestimating Diamanti. He's a more talented version of Giaccherini and Pepe. Think of all that running and strength and work ethic with some pretty decent end product. He at least for me, is a better fit for Conte than Giovinco because of his versatility and the fact that he doesn't have a physical handicap while offering everything Giovinco can: all that running.

Rumours have it that Marotta is ready to offer money + the second 50% of Sorensen + our 50% of Boakye for Diamanti
Poor valuation by us. We shouldn't lose two youngsters for this deal, unless it completely waives off the cash component. Off the two I'd have preferred we held on to Sorensen's half. Boakye has the talent, but if it helps bring the cost down considerably, why not? We have invested in quite a few young strikers, but I think Sorensen's time with us and his time away is going to aid his development than most of the players we give away to value him so cheaply. He is better than what we are giving him away for as part of this deal. If it is indeed true.

Sorensen is done for for us maybe.
You can't say. I've said this before and I'll say it again, we are ignoring the defense in a big way because of all our problems in attack. I actually think our defense is spread much thinner than the attack and we haven't seem it's frailty yet coz we haven't had any injuries or suspensions. But if you're walking with Chiellini, Barzagli and Bonnucci with no quality depth, then that's a pretty fine line. We need at least one more defender of such stellar quality. Sorensen isn't there yet, but he has shown ability npfor the long term no doubt.

he'll never be a starter
Diamanti?

What kind of profit do you expect to make on an unknown Danish defender bought for 20,000 euros? Surely, scouting for talent has some role to play.

You could say that about Pogba too. It's just that one player found more time, space and patience than the other. You cannot expect Sorensen to develop into a world beater playing with the mentality of a team like Bologna. Play him with Barzagli and Chiellini week in and week out and you'll see he is worth more than what we value him at currently. I'd rather give Motta up for this deal than Sorensen.

I disagree with Moggi with this!
We should opt for quality now, no more mediocre options, he prolly made those claims because he knows that Marotta cant do any better though and so his advice could have some usefull impact, as Marotta could go even worse than that...

Guys, stop talking hilarious crap. seriously, i'm gonna break something while rolling over the floor laughing my ass off, cause its a big ass.

Sorensen is a young guy, but a defender. He was promising but not like he was a new chiellini, just promising.

We currently need a decent 2th substitute option, that can sit on the bench all season and dont moan about it.

Sorensen, is for teams like parma or bologna to develop untill he proves he has the potential to actually challenge for a starterspot.

seriously, a team like juve isnt just gonna field these young defenders and not drop a $#@!load of points. this is why there are loans and co-own
Except that we do not have much better options.
We use 3 CBs, that means thatr we still need one (at least) reliable option and semis (which are not actuall CBs, for ex Caceres+smth like Peluso or Maronne)
Sorensen was at times better than Bonucci, but he was younger, so we loan him to grow up and form the future of our defense with Masi and other younger CBs.

On the other hand we have a load crap of CMs and considering that both lines use the exact same ammount of players, we need an equal ammount of option to have a balanced squad.
Unlike we did this year, where we suffered very much during Chiellini's injury, but had no major performance loss without any of the 3 starter CMs...

We all know that Joe is a mediocre italian fanboy.if diamanti was named diamantic im sure he would've passed on him. :claire:
Completely untrue. And no need to steal someone else's jokes.

Diamanti is not mediocre. He's one of the best attack minded midfielders in the league. His stats speak for himself, and he's getting better with age.

Diamanti is mediocre. He just plays for a low-tier team where he can stand out. Just like Giovinco at Parma. And not even as good, since Bologna are only kept afloat by the heroics of Gilardino.

The heroics of Gilardino....? You're making him seem like he's Di Natale or something.

Gilardino has 13 goals, Diamanti has 8.

Diamanti played very well for Italy in the Euro as well. So I don't believe he's just putting out those numbers because he's on a 'smaller' team.

Only Hernanes is better than Diamanti in Serie A. However, one will cost us 20M while the other will cost us ~6M.

We already have a world-class midfield. Diamanti for ~6M would be a great signing. You seldom find these kinds of deals in today's football market.

Well yeah, they are kept afloat by the guy who is supposed to score goals for them. All 13 heroically scored goals.

It's not like anyone else on the team does anything.

He has 7 (not 8) goals because he takes every penalty. If Gilardino did that you'd see Gilardino with 17 and Diamanti with 3.

The only two reasons we are interest on Diamanti are:
-He is Italian
-The competition for him would be low enough, so that Marotta can sign him.

At this moment we should stop making transfers for the shake of it, such transfers dont improve us, only expand us.
Swap him with Matri would be ok, i guess, but throwing cash for such mediocrity wouldnt!

You negative nacies need to stop acting like this a la liga team, look at where we at and what makes this juventus a great team

Diamanti would fit in nicely, and with a p/e he'd cost like 4/5 mil. and its not jeopardising the Higuain transfer.
Lets stop the circlejerk and start some realism please

Tbh I'd prefer us to pay 20m for Hernanes than reported 7m for Diamanti. He's above average but he won't improve this team while Hernanes would do that.
You realise that we can get Higuain and Diamanti, but NOT Higuain and Hernanes right ?

 you were the one to say we can't afford players like Higuain for a very long time here giving economy lessons to everyone. Suddenly you became optimistic and call others negative?

Do you realize Higuain will cost 25m-30m and Diamanti another 7m? Hernanes alone would cost about 20m and that's more possible than getting both Higgy and Diamanti?

I never said we should for Higgy + Hernanes duo.

Have you guys actually seen Sørensen play this season?

There is a reason why this youngster is playing every single match.(Something we rarely see in Serie A since midtable teams like Bologna prefer experienced players) & whole Bologna speak highly about him. There are even 3-4 Priemer League teams after him.
