Yes, indeed. We can all forget a 20+m dollar player for kicking a guy in the face, getting banned for a long time and inevitably starting a downward spiral for the team's overall performance.

I am now convinced.

Melo is not the point here (although you can't say he's not doing very well this season, despite the the kick in the face and the match agains Lecce).

According to your logic, Krasic doesn't worth the price paid for him as well.

Del Neri doesn't use Aquilani right.
Well the same Del Neri used Aquilani really right at the beginning of the season, the lad was kicking ass literally. Of course he played a good 65-70 minutes every match but in these minutes he did great. How did that change over the season?

He had a different role in Roma.

And does that give Aqui a reason or excuse to play like he is doing?
Yes, it does. He's being asked to do something different and it doesn't suit him.

Every players falls down, or shines under some coach. I honestly believe Aquilani is one of those who can't get their potential on the surface under Del Neri, simply because I've seen him under different light in Rome. Melo had a shit season and he played different before while same can go for Sissoko, who was shining under Ranieri.

He did play good, no doubt about that. But it's still something we didn't get to see often in Roma.

I believe that's the case, though. It's my theory.

So if he played good and suddenly stopped playing good, how can one explain that?

I can ask the same question for a bunch of other players as well.

Was it really an entirely different role? I don't think it was.

And even if he is being asked to play an entirely different role, it's not an excuse for me. I could understand him not shining because of it, I do not understand him not even trying his best. I want the players to give it their all, every time they step on the pitch.

But I know you're an Aquilani fanboy, Dusan. I am one myself as well, only difference is that it leads me to being harsh(er) on him, while you go looking for extenuating circumstances (is that how you say it?).

I'd say that role doesn't suit him. :boh: I don't say I'm right but I try to find a solution, at least based on his earlier matches and not just Juve ones.

I think he had a better regista role before, when he was also more involved in attack. He was using his creativity, taking long shots and running back to get ball much more while here his game looks pretty simple and different, based on center of midfield where he dictates the tempo and plays short passes.

And he stopped doing that, his role did not change. He only changed his approach to the game. And I am not talking about Aquilani alone here, I am talking about Melo and Krasic too. Melo used to a monster in the middle, now he is just another figure. Krasic used to spread fear among the defenders now he is just another fast player that can be nutmegged easily.

Can that be defined as 'players want a change'? I'm not sure myself. I mean, many times players drop their performance simply because they don't believe in the current manager.

Or they don't believe in themselves. Or because of outside factors. Or the combination of all.

It looks like to me that Aquilani is not giving a fuck while he is playing. Maybe he lost his faith in DN.
If he doesn't give a fuck , does he deserve to stay here ?!!

I like Aqua games but im not his huge fan , but any time any price i would prefere Aquaman over Montolivo .

    Aquaman=Sahin>Pirlo>..................................................>Montolivo (He sucks)
